That's the point of the whole story

This...

If you want that kind of zombie action, go see every zombie movie ever made. This is different. Obviously it is working, because the ratings are phenomenal. Compare the success of the show to that of the average zombie flick, using total sales (DVD+BO).
People don't normally turn out in large numbers for zombies. I know people who hate gory zombie films usually who watch this show religiously.
It's a drama, not a horror movie.

The initial point we all went in with WAS that. Everyone who first sees "The Walking Dead" immediately implies the name is about the walking dead zombies. Even in the show they are called Walkers. But as most movies and shows and episodes of shows will reveal the title at one point. In season one of the show and in book four or five Rick says "We are the Walking Dead"

The the aspect of the show and books makes more sense. What sets TWD apart from every other zombie movie or show. Is it isn't about just the zombie apocalypse. It is about day to day living and survival in the apocalypse.

People are your greatest fear, Zombies are a mindless constant. But easy to figure out.

People can outsmart you. People want what you have to survive.

Zombies don't WANT to kill you, they are just driven by hunger. People want to kill you for 'evil' means.

Everyone who is 'alive' is already dead in many ways.

From an interview that I read with Kirkman(creator), I think both readers and non will see a little more zombie action balance next season. Kirkman said that the zombie threat has gotten entirely too controllable and that he will make sure we all remember how much that isn't true next season.

+1 internets to you sir

You explained it better than anyone I've seen try. I still think the show itself has gone downhill with the plots dragging on and questionable mistakes. But you make the Walkers and Humans thing make more sense.

season 2 would have been a lot better had the dead vatos and old folks scene been left in. That was a good point early in the show that showed you that they had some really sick humans out there.

Also it was obviously the governor's group. The bag and some other things he had in his room at woodbury were obviously taken from the vatos.

But for some reason the scene was dropped. Also season two should have showed more plot progression, they could have had the barn scene three episodes earlier.

This is the begining of season 2 episode one that was cut, found on DVD. (NOT a SPOILER)

Season 2 was slow as well.

I guess it all comes down to your preference - story or action. I loved season two, mainly because of the way Shane's character slowly transformed. I like seeing how relationships evolve or erode, but it seems like most people on this board only want to see zombies getting curb stomped or rambo-type battles. That's lame to me, but to each their own.

Agreed. I'm getting tired of these "walking dead is boring" threads. Then stop watching it and/or bitching about it. Not our fault ya'll never read the books and see the similarities and differences. Just as good a show as any on TV right now.

This. Don't get me wrong, I like the action, too. But action without context is meaningless. And that's what TWD excels at--building context and meaning behind the characters.

It has to pick up next season or it will get put on the backburner for me. I like the whole Governor and Woodbury story but it should have ended a few episodes ago. There is no way Rick does not drop him upon meeting with him in that barn. He's already shown his willingness to kill humans that threaten the group why would he not kill the most dangerous threat to them when he had the chance?

I'll bitch about what I please dammit. And you can just bitch about what I bitch about.

Because 'Murica.

For real though, I don't hate the show. Far from it. Just trying to better understand why I feel like they devalued the zombie aspect of it a little in season 2, and then greatly in season 3. Now I understand better.

Well if you notice, the characters devalue the walkers/biters. They aren't afraid of them like they were at first, only when they're in imminent danger. They've started to weaponize them as well. Now you see walkers/biters all over the place and people will just walk on by like they aren't even there. They realize humans are really what to be feared.

because he had agreed to meet the leader of another group for terms. What if Lee went to Appomattox and pulled out a pistol and shot Grant?
I would think it would have made things worse on his people. Rick was thinking the same thing. He knows his group is smaller. Would Merle and Glen have been able to secure the Prision? Rick had to think that they had forces at the prison, while he had his best man with him, and only three real protectors guarding the group (Maggie, Glen, Michonne<Merel wasn't trusted>)

It's obvious why he didn't kill him.
Though had Glen agreed with Merle(about sneak attack on the meeting), then Rick would have killed the governor for sure. I wanted that to happen.

Yeah I didn't really understand that when I made the thread. After thinking about though, it's just like the regular world. Your whole life is changed upside down, you learn, you strengthen.

I need to read the damn books.

Don't get used to that.

I don't see this as a pure bitching thread. While I'm a big fan of the human vs human conflict that that show is centered around, that scene where Merle/Michonne were getting surrounded reminded me that I would definitely like to see the zombies be more of a threat.

I do find it odd the used ones are more expensive than the new ones however.

If its getting boring stop watching

I for one am still entertained. Certainly the antagonism has shifted, but I don't think that's a bad thing. In fact I think its pretty interesting that humans are really the most dangerous after the apocalypse

Season 1 was really the only season were Zombies were the main antagonist. Season 2 was more centered around Rick vs. Shane except for the last episode, and now we have the governor

It has become a boring predictable show with a great opener and ending each season. The middle is just filler.
