I have an idea for a series but in my head it makes perfect sense but I have no time or real idea on how to put it on paper.

It's character driven, focusing on different people all in an extended family. The pilot focuses on the death of the family patriarch and how he affected all of the family members.

It's interesting because in some people's view he was a saint while others despised him.

First season would all be about coping with the loss as well as family drama associated with will execution.

Loosely based on my family.

I wrote a sceenplay for a short film(about 40 minutes) about 6 years ago. It's a comedy.

When I get all rich and stuff, I may try to produce it

Yeah, it's harder to just get a person to look at it than anything. You'll need to get a Screenwriter's Guide and get an agent to sell it. Pretty much nobody of quality is going to give you the time of day without an agent. Not as scary as it sounds, though. They get a percentage, but don't go with one who wants anything in advance. Just hope you don't get one like the guy on "Extras" That was my fear.

Also, make sure you write it in the style and format, including font, ect., that is excepted. It's best to just start it in the right form. Very easy to find all this on the internet and it's in the Guide as well. There is also a way you should present yourself to the agent, but that's down the road as well.

The main thing is to just write. Also, keep a journal. Even have it at your bedside. Remember, a lot of writing is working things out in your mind. Sometimes I've come to a stop, but patiently waited for the next idea to arise and it came to me in a dream. On the other hand, don't be afraid to brainstorm. You can always fill in the gaps later on, especially when adding foreshadowing and other elements. You can spice it up later. Being an old sports editor, I can't tell you how many times I walked back into the office, or was at a game on strict deadline and just started it in the middle because I knew I had to get it done. It always worked. As I wrote, the lead would come to me as well as the ending. I was distracted a lot by phone calls, ect., so to this day I write better with a lot of commotion.

if you go through the #SCREENPLAYIDEA hashtag on twitter then you'll see, like, 17 of my ideas that may just be stupid/ridiculous enough to work

I've tried but couldn't portray my thoughts well on paper.

I've got 3 plot ideas that I know are pretty solid and complex.. the problem is it's plot based and I'm back and forth on character development. And I want these characters to teach and learn with the reader.. just cant get it.

We should all get together and write a movie script. It could be the Movie Board Project. Anyone on board?

I highjacked a thread on here about a civil war movie.. We came up with an award winning sci-fy channel show where civil war troops end up back in time. It was left with a title that left the viewer wondering... "The War Between The States and Tanks and Dinosaurs"

I am still behind this idea.

I wrote a novel based on a screenplay my cousin wrote in college. It's about zombies, of course, and just received a very nice 5 star review on Amazon today

OweO: (Enters the room seemingly unaware that the poster he quoted was parodying the format of screenplay)

Cam71090: (confused by OweO's response)
What are you talking about? I simply said no.

OweO: Oh, excuse me. I inadvertently broke the fourth wall of film making by referencing the script.

Fade to Black

Audience left being very disappointed in OweO
