"To Appomattox" Civil War miniseries

Looks like it might just be happening. The only problem I have so far with the casting - besides all the NASCAR drivers and country music singers playing minor/supporting roles - is Paul Giamatti as James Longstreet. Sure, Giamatti is a great actor, but he looks NOTHING like Longstreet. Longstreet was a giant of his day, 6'2 220 lbs, and looked every much like the soldier he was.
Michael C. Hall is a good choice for Ulysses S. Grant and I also like Stephen Lang as Abraham Lincoln.

Ugh. What a terrible choice. Nascar drivers and country music singer are the worst actors imaginable. I understand their marketing value, but for frick's sake they're going to ruin something that has potential.

Any new news? Last I heard something was over a year ago. Their website is still dubious. I hope the website design isn't reflective of the miniseries production value.
I really don't have high hopes for this. I hope I'm wrong.

Apparently they have inked a deal with Sony. The show won't be on HBO as originally thought. Production apparently begins in 2012.
While the website is dubious, most of the information they put out comes from their Facebook page.

Kix Brooks of Louisiana as Winfield Scott Hancock? Carl Edwards as John B. Gordon? Give me a break.
And does Stephen Lang now have the record for most characters portrayed in Civil War films? Jackson in Gods & Generals; Pickett in Gettysburg and now Lincoln in this.

Maybe he will be on his horse 95% of the movie. Or tank.. we should have had tanks in the War Between the States.

The downfall of most CW movies is the unrealistic beard phenomenon. Most actors either can't grow a decent one or don't want to put a year or more effort into it. Makeup department beards always look fake.

"Civi War soldiers transported through a rip in time find themselves in a bizarre world where dinosaurs roam and strange men in metal monsters battle for dominance. Will the Blue and the Gray band together to survive, or will old hatreds re-emerge in a new world?"
Oh, and it will need to be a black Union unit and there will need to be at least one servant/slave on the Confederate side who has to make a difficult decision of loyalty to his master/friend or freedom with the Union unit.
