I have no investment in HP or this series but it's fascinating to me how it's causing elements of woke on both polls to melt.
I hope it's highly successful with the middle as a rebuke to both.

I don’t think criticizing an objectively strange casting choice is melting. It has people talking, and that’s their only logical goal. It may or may not end up working but right now it’s generating buzz.

Its literally the same people getting mad about black people being cast and saying harry potter is a racist if he doesnt like snape.
Yes, bitching and moaning about how a black person being cast for a role before u see the product means you are just going off skin color (making it solely based on race).
Now saying Harry can't dislike his teacher because he is black without any context is also solely based in the race of the characters.
That is the definition if racism, judging someone (in this case Snape) solely off of their skin.

At least for me, it’s not as big of a deal with the Harry/Snape relationship.
I do think it’s a much bigger deal with the James/Sirius/Snape relationship. But hopefully it ends up not mattering and I’m sure the series will be great regardless.

Criticizing a race swap is not the same as criticizing any role a black person gets hired for.

HBO productions are running 2-3 years for release these days. There’s no way these actors will stay age-appropriate if it takes a couple of decades to release all 7 seasons.
Hell, John Lithgow will probably make it 5 years tops.
Or are they planning to film everything at once and release them every year. Don’t see how they can pull that off.

They're already filming season 2, so that's a good sign. They can't go 3 years between seasons
