Harrison Ford

Notable Films - Raiders of the Lost Ark (lead), Apocalypse Now (supporting), Air Force One (lead), Star Wars (supporting), Gun Smoke (TV series) (recurring), 42 (supporting)

Anthony Hopkins
age: 78

Notable Films: Red Dragon (lead*), The Elephant Man (supporting), All The Kings Men (supporting), Hannibal (lead*)

*while billed as the lead actor in the Hannibal Lector trilogy he has an unusual amount of screen time including only 17.5 minutes of screen presence in The Silence of The Lambs for which he won his leading role Oscar.

Which one do you think is the better actor?

Is this a serious question?

Ford is one of the greatest action heroes of all time, but Hopkins is a classically trained actor who has twice the acting chops as Ford...and that's no insult to the former.

some on that list.

When I think of Ford I think...

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark/Indiana Jones
2. Star Wars Trilogy
3. The Fugitive
4. Blade Runner
5. Patriot Games/Clear and Present Danger
6. Witness
7. Air Force One
8. Mosquito Coast
9. Working Girl
10. Presumed Innocent

Pretty much in that order.

Of his other films, I've rewatched maybe only Sabrina and American Graffiti.

But that's his basic resume.

I've always thought Ford is overrated. Doesn't display a lot of range. Great for Indiana Jones/Han Solo, but seems a bit wooden in other roles. His best performance is Regarding Henry.

Hopkins is the better "actor" as we use that term. However, Harrison Ford is one of the better actors who was given a lot of big budget leads over the past 40 years, too. Because of the nature of most of his films, Ford didn't get critical acclaim for roles he probably should have.

But, Sir Anthony is a fantastic actor all the same - I'm not going to penalize him because he selected roles that would highlight that. He's not asking Harrison Ford for any money is he?
