It's hard to explain just how disappointed I was after seeing it opening weekend. "Wow, the world waited 16 years for...that?"

This and Batman are the two most hyped movies I can remember. People were standing in line a week before release.

I remember kids crying that they couldnt go because they werent 13 yet.

Ando also saw in a wal mart store display, back when they would play a movie on all the tvs..they had batman on and had kids just crowding and watching when it was first released on video.

As an ironic aside. It’s TPM bday on the same day D&Ds (the new SW writers) GoT runs officially ends. Uh oh.

It's also Peter Mayhew's birthday today.

Even at its worst, TPM still felt like a Star Wars movie and had some great moments.

TLJ did not.

TPM had the pod race (cool at the time) and a light-saber battle that is still bad-arse.

The rest sucked....particularly because Young Anakin was a total bust.

Not even Ewen and Liam could save it...especially with the Jar Jar FUBAR.

As much hate as they get, the prequels had by far the best world building of any of the trilogies/individual movies. That’s when the Star Wars universe really exploded and it became a true epic.

Meh. TPM was wastchable (minus some Jar-Jar scenes and little Anikan's acting). Maybe I just have nostalgic feelings about the huge build-up to it and how excited we all were to see it.

I was 16 at the time and had been a Star Wars fan all my life. It was an event.
