Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) is a banger, and Hercules Mulligan is spittin'.

I enjoyed it a lot.
I would hope they show this in schools as a new type of "school house rocks" type thing.
Only gripe is I think Miranda is the worst on stage.
I've seen him in other actor roles and he's just not good. Stick to writing bud

Finally set to catch this tonight. Had tickets to see this a couple of years ago on a babymoon but that went out the window with an early arrival. :cantwait:

100% addicted to all 3 of George's songs.

Holy shite.
Just incredible.
Say what you want about Miranda’s vocals compared to the rest of the cast, but I’m honestly really thankful I got to see the visionary that created this production on stage as it played out. (He’s actually pretty good imo but he definitely fades toward the end which is understandable given that he’s singing almost nonstop for nearly three hours. Just an absolute marathon of a performance)
But the rest of the cast. Wow. Burr is just incredible, Jefferson and King George steal the show with their humor, and George Washington was a constant and steady presence that explodes with power in his swan song One Last Time. Just perfect casting.
Eliza was also steady and then moved the whole production from historical to emotional with an all time performance with Burn. Just phenomenal.
But honestly the performance I couldn’t get out of my head the whole rest of the play was when Angelica sang Satisfied. One of the best performances I’ve ever seen on a stage and the actress was simply incredible. Wish we could have seen even more of her.
The Cabinet Battles between Hamilton and Jefferson were absolute masterpieces of history and comedy, and The World Turned Upside Down and The Room Where It Happens perfectly brought to life all of the weight of what was happening during that time.
I just can’t give enough praise to Miranda. Moana is a favorite for our kids so I know that by heart and after seeing this there just is no denying his genius. Can’t wait to see what else he has in store.
Incredible production obviously on stage but also on camera. They did a great job capturing it from one medium for another.
Just wow. Definitely did not throw away his shot

It was aight
Our Broadway and West End going days have been over for a while since kids came along, but the wife and I went on a decade run of seeing pretty much every big show there is.
Been waiting for this one for a while and it really brought back that magic we loved about the theater. Was very happy it lived up to the hype.
And the ability to capture the stage feeling on screen was really really impressive. Could potentially change the way people can be exposed to theater and in bigger numbers.
I read through the thread after I posted last night, and I do agree with a couple of posters that it doesn’t start off with a bang.
Honestly, Alexander Hamilton and My Shot didn’t grab me the way I expected out of the gate, but George’s first appearance really kick started it with You’ll Be Back imo, and Washington following that with Right Hand Man is really the beginning what I expected to see and it never let up after that.
Washington really is the backbone of the show imo, with his presence bookending the best stretch from Right Hand Man to One Last Time. Everything in that run is so damn good.
It’s such a good mix of history, love story, father and son story (Dear Theodosia honestly brought tears to my eyes), and of friendship turned rivalry. It really did have it all.
Not to mention that in today’s climate there has been a lot of talk about forgetting our past and disrespecting the founding fathers. Well this is the absolute antithesis of that. I would imagine many of the people that are bothered by the racial reimagining of the cast or have no interest in seeing it are the most upset by the attempts to retroactively judge their actions through today’s sensibilities.
But Hamilton absolutely celebrates the fathers and the vision and mission they had while also acknowledging their imperfections. But it still stresses how noble their intentions and how important their work was and that they be remembered as the heroes they were for creating a country so great (Who Tells Your Story as the finale of the entire show literally says this).
The spirit of patriotism and the love of what was being built and highlighting that equally brilliant and dedicated minds could reasonably disagree on what exactly it was going to be should be as timely as anything right now.
So yeah, I guess I liked it

I didn't know a whole lot about this movie before hand. I enjoyed it initially but the whole concept began to feel like a novelty after 20 minutes. It just became very repetitive and boring IMO. I made it to an hour in and took a break to do something. I don't have much of a desire to finish.

I was pleasantly surprised. All my SJW facebook friends have been fawning over it for years so I just assumed I would hate it. It was very entertaining and seemed to attempt to be somewhat true to the history. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours.

Helpless and It's Quiet Uptown are put in to make it feel more like a true Broadway production to balance out the rap songs.
If you can't enjoy the story about a founding father of America than whatever.
I mean he picked up a book at the airport and that's what he based the play on.
Read the extremely long book or get an entertaining synopsis on Broadway?

I could not agree more.

I love watching it with my kids. I’ve watched it 3 times now. I love pausing it and giving more context to what they are saying as there is a lot of imagery and need for understanding what else is happening in those periods.
Great movie.
Great movie.
