Glad this is not canon but was Miranda Keys even alive during the Fall of Reach in the real timeline?

Oh and Master Chief would never allow himself to accosted by a teenager

Do you mean was she present at Reach? I think that’s unknown.

Because she was definitely alive. She died later that year during the ending of Halo 3

You're 100% right, for some reason I thought the fall of Reach started the Covenant-Human war.

Post edited to include thoughts.

The only thing Halo about this is the art elements.

Why do show runners continue to run art/story perfection into the ground?

While the show is visually pretty, I have no idea who or what this show is for. If you are a Halo fanboy, this pretty much does a 180 on everything you know in the guise of a non canon timeline.

All you had to do was take the games and put it on the screen. It would have printed quadruple what you are going to get.

Yeah, got to say he took the helmet off way too early. Kinda kills the bad assness. Overall better than I thought it would be though. If we get more of the first 20 minutes it could be great. If it's more like the second half then just ok.

Right. If your interested, pick up Ghosts of Onyx next before the newer trilogy. All 4 are fun reads and really fill in some gaps.
I read those in 2008. I would probably need to reread the original 3 as well.

As it would have it, I have two teenagers in school sports and a wife coaching HS tennis for the next two months. I can barely read TD and TexAgs at work right now. But maybe this summer.

What a crock of shite in the first episode. Ridiculous that there is an established universe and Paramount is just saying “frick it we don’t care.” Covenant are at first blowing heads and limbs off with their plasma guns and rifles then their not. 117 taking off his helmet? Umm…the whole point is that it doesn’t come off because the player is Master Chief. High Charity already missing half its entirety with no explanation? Jacob and Miranda Keyes are black? Hmm…ok let’s support the woke agenda.

Yes, I’m one of those of wanted to see live action of what was established not Paramount’s interpretation

I agree that it is obvious they made sure to only make master chief the one white male strong character. Pretty funny. The show could go downhill fast now that we see master chief is just a normal dude haha. First 20 we're great. I'll give it a few more episodes.

Just started the episode.

Gotta say as a Halo fan since the day the original Xbox launched seeing Master Chief drop in during the opening scene was pretty fricking awesome.

Decent first episode.

I don't have an issue with them showing his face, but I do take issue with how he looked. He should have been very, very pale. The Master Chief hardly ever takes off his armor, definitely not enough to have a sun tan.

He also should have had almost zero hair, both on top of his head and his face.

Changing Keyes to a black dude was definitely unnecessary, but I don't have an issue with it. It's what Hollywood does now.

I wish they would have just stuck with Blue Team instead of Silver Team. I guess having three characters named Fred, Linda and Kelly wasn't cool enough.

It’s always looked like that. Did you even play the games?

They came out and said they didn’t even look at or talk about the games when they were making the show.

They can say that but there were multiple callbacks to the game, shields popping and regening with the exact same game sounds made me happy.

I liked it. Not a bad first episode. It did drag a little at the end but I'm excited to see where it goes.

High Charity was always a top half dome structure. That was the way the Covenant designed it

No

None of the games show high charity any different. Why would the show need to explain it?

Forward Unto Dawn, a movie with a tenth of the budget is way better than even the first episode.

BTW Angry Joe says the second episode is a major falloff of the first.

LINK

Rewatch that movie and you'll realize what you've been robbed.

Unfortunately my expectations of TV are so low these days. You can guarantee the diverse casting will come off as ridiculous and subverting expectations will be a huge focus (having master chief take his helmet off 1st episode). Going to try and be positive and enjoy this one. If they screw it up I'll turn it off by episode 3.

As someone who played the games and loosely followed that lore, I enjoyed the first episode. I'll continue to watch.

Haven't read the books either. I agree its dumb for them to know nothing about the games and try to make the show but maybe they do a decent job

I enjoyed the episode. Kinda glad they’re doing something different doesn’t have to follow the lore. Just wanna see MC be MC and it looks like they got him right. That opening scene was legit
