Pretty much.
My understanding is that this hit the radar because they were doing a massive Medicare fraud case in Florida and turned up five figure bribes paid to Penn basketball coaches to get the fraudster’s son into the Ivy League school as a recruited athlete.
Once they became familiar with the scam and some of the players involved, they started looking into the fixers, the schools, the other clients of the fixers, etc., and Aunt Becky just happened to be a high profile name in the net.
A decent real world example I can give of a similar case is the Boston College point shaving case from the early 80s.
The FBI busted Henry Hill of Goodfellas infamy on drug charges and flipped him to turn on his bosses.
As part of the interview after he turned, he kept mentioning trips to Boston. When asked why he kept going to Boston, he mentioned that he was shaving points at BC games. His handler took particular interest in that because he was a former BC basketball player and had attended some of the games in question.

Most other channels would probably wait until she was convicted.
HBO and Showtime would give her a raise and base a show staring her around the scandal.

When we have a Senator who faked their way into Law School, faked their way into a Professorship and then faked their way to becoming a US Senator by pretending to be a Native American.
Difficult to be rankled by this FBI investigation if the general public doesn't care about the above.
Someone who is going to run for President in 2020.

All of this. If you're rich enough, just walk up and pay your way in. May have even been cheaper.
Yep. They were hustled to a degree, the guy that sold them on this (not just Loughlin but the rest of them) told them, sure, you can donate money to the school and probably get your kid in but this is fool proof!
They let themselves get bamboozled when the old fashioned way of doing things would have worked just fine. Instead they get Patton Oswalt and other celebrities mocking them even though they probably would have done the same thing.

This seems overboard to me as well. If you want to fire her, fire her. Not airing an episode because of this is stupid.

Yes. Why is she being persecuted??
Seriously though, I heard on the radio her bond was a million bucks.

Nobody is outraged over this but the worthless FBI that has real world problems and yet seems bored out of its arse to go after parents sneaking their kids into college.
Seriously, who fricking cares? Feed the hungry, investigate the serial killers, stop mass drug importation and illegal immigration of violent criminals.
I don't care that Susie Q got into NYU because her parents paid the admissions office.
You’d probably be singing a different tune if your kids were denied at one of these schools even though they met the entrance requirements.
The fact of the matter is had these schools just come out and said that they also offer preference to the children of premium donors, then no laws would’ve been broken (at least not at Private institutions). Sure, they’d have to deal with the PR ramifications of that, but it’s legal (hell, that’s exactly what the TAF does with season tickets ). BUT, what they did was allow and facilitate criminal fraud. And therein lies the rub.

It’s fraud. And it crossed state lines, and that makes it federal.

Patton would just get the admissions director hooked on a lethal cocktail of rx drugs and replace her with a better looking one months later.
