Is that it, voters? Did the penguin tell you to vote this way?

New rule. If you vote for the grinch over toy story 3, it requires a 1,000 character explanation.

Happy to give you an explanation:

Toy Story 3 is only good because of Toy Story 1. And I voted for Toy Story 1 in both rounds. The Toy Story trilogy is amazing. However, As an individual movie to sit down and watch I'll pick the 1966 Chuck Jones animated Grinch over Toy Story 3 especially at christmas time with my kids 10/10 times. I love that movie.

I voted for Toy Story 1 in both rounds too.

But we all have personal preferences and the matchup matters.

If Toy Story 2 wasn't matched up with Fox and the Hound I would have gone with that.

If Toy Story 3 wasn't matched up with The Grinch, I would have gone with that.

There are a lot of reasons to like animated movies and their contributions, enjoyment, rewatchability with family and legacy and importance in the genre.

Fair enough. I think I'm in the minority that actually likes TS3 as much as TS1. I think it could stand alone as a great movie. You could argue it as the best 3rd installment of any trilogy, not just animated. And as I mentioned in the last thread, it has a flawless ending.

The Grinch is just meh to me. But that's obviously not the general consensus on here and it has a really high imdb /10 rating.

Grinch, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Rudolph all in the 2nd round. Do they all three make it if we do this tournament in May?

The Nightmare Before Christmas is probably in the Top 15 Greatest Animated Movies objectively speaking. It was a game changer and it completely stands the test of time. I think you can watch that any time of year and be just as entranced. It’s just a great concept: What if Halloween discovered Christmas and decided to take it over? People talk about it constantly to this day on what it stands for.
