The winner at this point (without Iron Giant, Up, Sleeping Beauty, etc.) should be Beauty and the Beast, but it probably loses.

I'm not keeping up with the votes yet (hopefully nobody is), but I definitely think beauty and the beast has a good shot.

What do you love about sleeping beauty? I never cared for it at all.

I just think best should have a real emotional connection.

I don't begrudge Lion King and Toy Story because they do.

But I think Beauty and the Beast is just a song and dance number animated. (greatly done though)

Call me sentimental. But Fox and the Hound is one of the best animated movies of all-time and deserved to beat the Beast. But alas.

That played a part in my voting throughout the process. I didn't look at most of the matchups as a critic. Although I for the most part dislike critics, I typically prefer the critically acclaimed movies over the popcorn flicks.

But not when it comes to animated movies. If it boiled down to just flat out story, I might have Spirited Away as my favorite, but like you say, the emotional connection to Lion King, Toy Story, Fox and the Hound, Wall-E and the Iron Giant has a much bigger impact for me on animated movies.

Making the top 8 ain't a bad showing though.

I'm giving Fox and the Hound an Honorary Oscar:

YouTube, final scene

(and calling for a revote.)

How Incredibles got this far is beyond me. Toy Story is great but just doesn't beat Lion King.

Such tough decisions. Each movie is iconic.

Beauty and the Beast (I think) was the first animated movie in the modern era to get a best picture nomination.

Lion King was the most profitable film of all time (counting merchandising) when it came out. It also has one of the best Disney soundtracks.

Toy Story was groundbreaking. I actually saw it in a sneak preview before it was released with my oldest son. He’s 27 now and still talks about that time.

I believe Incredibles is the best super hero film ever animated or live action.

I could vote all traditional or all Pixar, but...

Beauty and the Beast
Toy Story

Lion King vs Toy Story should be the championship round

It's the PURE animated classic. No fluff. It is a fairy tale on screen before toy sales, cute things, songs and sequels mattered.

I feel like The Lion King vs Toy Story should of been in the finals together.

The lion king gets the edge for me because I think of the movies listed, it was the most complete movie... Soundtrack, Score, plot, a good growth of good guy and a very good bad guy... That pushed it over Toy Story..
