Have we seen the Golden Company yet in the show? I can't remember, I know we've seen em in the books, can't remember if we have in the show.

Stannis hired them when he saved Jon's arse from the Wildlings.

Except Tyrion killed Tywin.

Jaime was empathetic because he knew how Tywin and Cersei were always unfair to Tyrion and down right mean for no reason at times. The blame the death of Joanna on him, but that blame is unfairly placed as well.

But then you've got Tormund, Bronn, Beric, and The Hound that are still probably better.

There was indication that he hired Golden Company. That was just some sell swords for all we know.

Put on closed captions when you watch shows like this. It was pretty clearly stated that the gold made it inside the gates of KL.

This. I started using CC in season 6 and it is amazing how much better it is watching this show knowing what is said.

Seriously! There are 20 posts in this thread asking what Tyrion said when he was watching Jamie. If you had CC turned on, that sequence is so much more powerful knowing the conflict Tyrion is experiencing !

I don't think CC is nessesary to figure out that the gold was in KL. They made an entire scene around giving you that information.

Because she's home now. The entire point of hiding was to get home at first, then to get revenge later on. In Winterfell among her family, she has no need to hide anything.

more that she's still a Stark, not a dark plotter playing some long game. She doesn't reveal all her abilities, but she lets her guard down and doesn't keep every card hidden.

Also, the writers wanted to show her swordplay so that when it comes up later (because it will) they don't want it to look like they wrote her a superpower at the last minute to cheaply get her out of danger or something. It's a writing gimmick. The audience doesn't feel cheated because they knew about this ability beforehand.

Good example of this in the books is with Jon getting resurrected. The red wizards bringing people back to life is essentially meaningless to the overall plot before Jon, but if that had been the first time we'd seen it, it would have seemed like Martin was cheating, or had written himself into a corner and was getting out of it with a cheap trick. Because we saw it happen repeatedly in the story to others, we were prepared for it with Jon.

The text reads:

When Aegon the Conqueror formed the Seven Kingdoms, he and his descendants would often decorate their blades with dragonglass, feeling a kinship with the stone. The royal fashion for dragonglass ornamentation soon spread throughout the Seven Kingdoms to those wealthy enough to afford it. Hilt and pommels were and are the most common decoration for dragonglass is too brittle to make a (can't make the word out). Indeed it's very brittleness is what relegated it to the great houses and the most successful merchants.

I don't think you can make direct weapons out of it because it is so brittle (perhaps arrowheads). I think swords/daggers/axes will need to be reforged and impregnated with dragonglass.

We've seen dragonglass daggers tons of times in the show. Sam killed a White Walker with one. Leaf used a dragonglass dagger to create the Night's King.

At best, a dagger. You want to get close-quarters with a WW?

If they are so brittle, they will not be useful long term. Hence, putting dragonglass in steel blades.
