Agree we need someone else to help confirm Jon's lineage. I can imagine the looks Bran will get when he starts saying Jon is a Targ. They will think he's gone crazy north of the wall.

true,

but i could also see the writers taking a huge shortcut and bran proving it by just telling everybody a whole bunch of creepy shite that they're keeping secret that he discovered via 3-eyed-ravenness

they'll be all like "omg, like nobody should know about that"

and he'll be like "im the 3-eyed raven, i see all, and i saw jon snow born to lyanna stark and rhaegar targaryen, and i saw them get married, and i saw cersei fricking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and Moon Boy"

Howland Reed is going to have to come along in Season 7, but there might be something in the Citadel.

if they want make it look like jon has a stronger claim to the throne then they also need someone to confirm that rhaegar and lyanna were married

if we dont get howland reed somehow confirming that, then i could see sam finding a scroll after hearing about jon's parentage referencing a septon that married rhaegar but it being a different septon that married rheagar to elia martell so it made sam curious and he searches for said septon

then sam finds him and he confirms that yes he did marry them long ago and that he promised to keep it secret until rhaegar wanted it revealed but then after rhaegar and lyanna both died he felt no reason to tell anyone

I'm pretty sure it was earlier in this thread but several of us were discussing that Varys possibly knows and could provide confirmation. He was working for the Targaryns at the time and finding out who seduced the honorable Ned Stark would be a mystery worth solving.

I think the scrolls that the Archmaester gave Sam to copy will have some useful info about the White Walkers. Remember that the Archmaester said he believes Sam about the White Walkers but didn't seem to care.

I mean Meera has in all likelihood sent a raven to her father to inform him of her survival and Jojen's death. I haven't read any leaks yet, but it would shock me if he isn't making his way north with some sort of scroll that confirms Jon's identity and to reunite with his daughter.

But Castle Black didn't send a raven to Winterfell letting Jon know his brother is there.

I honestly doubt we'll see Howland Reed. As of right now it seems the lineage will be revealed to everyone through Bran and/or Sam.

And they also didn't send a raven to the Citadel letting them know that Jon Snow was the lord commander and inform them of all the higher ups that had died including the former maester. It seems like a stupid reason because how hard is it to strap a note on a birds foot, but not having a maester is the excuse Sam gave for why no raven was sent to the Citadel.

Dany would likely intercept any Ravens sent to dragonstone to prevent any espionage or calls of distress from Jon to the north

Tywin was definitely for his family first and foremost. He was ruthless for sure. But he had positive qualities. If circumstances played out differently he himself could have been a fairly good ruler. His downfall was his inability to actually interact with his children in a constructive way.

I'd say Tywin's downfall was a combination of poison, the shits, and a crossbow quarrel. Up until that, he was doing o.k.

I hate the theory that Tywin was already poisoned.

Wasn't going to. I haven't read them. But I have a feeling others have...

Anyone who posts the leaked spoilers or uses them in a "theory" or "guess" will be handed over to OML so he can fulfill his death-rape fantasies.

But Jon was already conceived before Rhaegar died, so the claim can be made that Rhaegar's heir was in play before his death. The line of succession is not clear, as far as I know, in this instance if Rhaegar and Lyanna were indeed married.

Only if you believe succession begins at conception.

Wasn't there also a nurse maid there when Jon was born? I doubt Ned killed the nurse maid.

Of course, Meera could say something. We don't know that Reed swore himself to secrecy.

"My father told me that you have a big red birthmark on your right buttcheek shaped like a dragon head.."

Given that he sacrificed his good name and his honor to keep the promise, I don't think he'd see it as murder, but as much of a necessary execution as a Night's Watch deserter.

Hell, he leveled the frigging tower before he left...he wanted the memory obliterated completely.

To be fair I think there's a pretty good chance that no one left at Castle Black can read or write. I mean, sure Bran and Meera can, but I think it's still a valid point.

That's absurd. There's no way he'd do that, and the situation is in no way like a NW deserter.

She may have been dornish and simply gone back to Dorne.

That raises another issue. Are there any literate people at Eastwatch?
