2. Tyrion and Varys. The "Have you ever pushed your own shite out a hole in a box" line was fantastic but the response was even better. "No, but I have picked up you shite and thrown it overboard." I love their dialogue.

That was good. Varys is a fan favorite, so I guess he'll stick around in the show.

Jaime and Bronn should be an interesting combination. I hope neither of them is taking Ser Arys' place in the story, though.

Brienne/Pod was starting to look good last season, but if she just bitches at him the whole time, it's going to get old fast.

I think the preview scene of Pod being attacked on the road is Brienne saving his arse. I think things will turn from there to a more chivalrous tone.

Cersei shitting on Lancel. Loras's condolences speech to Cersei was a force as well

Hodor here. Question for book readers:

I've read that with the books, GRRM has written himself into a corner and that's why the next book is taking so long. Can anyone explain to me the corner he's in? I don't care about being sperled so feel free to give details.

I've also heard that a lot of people have figured out a major plot line. Any insight there? Again, feel free to give details.

Thanks in advance!

Sidebar: I have no plans to read the books. Mainly because I have a huge list of other books I would rather read and also because I'm uncertain that GRRM will ever actually finish them. That dude is not healthy.

I don't know about writing himself into a corner, probably more of writing too much and not know how to tie it all together

so many characters, so many stories, kinda hard to end it

Jon's parents

the theory is that Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are Jon's parents

I don't think he is going to change it, nor do I think he is pissed. If he didn't want people to figure that out, he shouldn't have written so many clues.

I don't necessarily believe he's written himself into a corner. I think he's always taken his time writing the books but he's enjoying all the fame and attention he's received from the show.

As far as the major plotline, it's the parentage of Jon Snow.

I don't think he's going to change it or that he's mad about it either

Thanks for the info! I'll edit my previous post about him being pissed and changing the plot line. I just read it on some internet chat that was speculating why it was taking him so long to finish writing.

Hodor here. Question for book readers:

Believe me when I tell you that this won't end well.

He takes forever to write each book. In the afterward to book 4, he says that book 5 would come out the following year. It didn't come out for another five years. I think he's just a slow writer, even when he has his story structure all figured out.

I'm not sure why people think he's stuck. To me, book 5 leaves the reader hanging more than any of the others, and there is a lot for him to cover.

As for the big plot point, he may as well just do it. He wasn't very subtle about it, so it's his own fault that people figured it out.

I've just seen comments here and there online and in an article I read a while back that he had written himself in a corner. That's why I came here to find out for sure if that was the case or not.

He's written two books in 15 years. I would say that's a bit of a corner, and he admitted as much. He called it the "Mereneese Knot". He had Dany stuck in Mereen, and he had a bunch of a other characters converging there and he really had no idea how to get them together, wrap it all up, and get things moving back to Westeros. He claimed he had it figured out and out came Dance...but its taken a long time for the next book to come out, so...who knows.

Really, he's just enjoying being famous. He only writes on one computer at home and travels a lot. The books are just a part of the many things he does at this point. It is what it is.

He is at a certain point of the story and needs to get to an ending he has already decided on. He only has two books to wrap up a shitload of story lines and he is making sure it doesn't feel rushed and unfulfilled. Story was supposed to be 3 books long. He chose to expand rather than cut is short and I think it got away from him a little. If he were younger I would bet we would hear an 8th book was going to be needed. He knows he doesn't have 2 more books left in him after Winds so he is just being careful to finish Winds and Spring the right way.

I don't think so. I think he's had a basic story outline for 20 years, but is just slow. If he's pissed that people figured out the plot development in question, and wants to change it, I don't know what he'd change it to.

The annoying thing is that he's had side projects going while leaving the latest book unfinished. He did a kids book and consulted on the World of Ice and Fire backstory book. I'm thinking that he and HBO have a deal where he is to release the next book some time before next season airs.

I believe Sansa will make Cersei look like Mary Poppins, in the end. Black becomes her.

He'll be fine. He seems to not be a whiny little bitch like some others who have ventured into the reader thread previously.
