Oh. Jesus. Hate those. I like the ease of use but I hate the voices. When reading the books each character has their own voice, the audiobooks mess that up for me. Did the audio book for "The Princes and the Queen" and the old man reading the dialogue for the female characters was almost comical.

I've only listened to parts of the ASOIAF audiobook...the 90 year old doing the "OHHHH PETYRRRR" part was disturbing.

Roy Dotrice does every book.

Personally I prefer reading it myself.

Finally watched it. Didnt really care when Ygritte died like I thought I would. I do like how they are making Janos Slynt look like the huge bag of dicks that he is.

Definitely. They're setting up things nicely for next season when Edd fetches the block .

I hope the show mentions how much Stannis disliked him, and would have killed him in King's Landing.

Finally was able to watch the episode....

Like always some people like an episode, while others dont. Everyone has their reasons for liking or disliking an episode or thought they should have done some things different or stayed true to the book or did that and that, etc.

That said, I thought they hit this episode out of the park. Ygriette having Jon Snow right in her sights at point blank range, but not able to let the arrow fly was perfect. As was the little boy killing Ygriette, came full circle for him because his family was the family murdered when Ygriette and Tormunds crew went south of the Wall with the Thenns. Tormund was awesome. Jon Snow killing the Thenn was awesome. As was Sam setting Ghost loose.

I really have enjoyed the way the show portrays Allister Thorne. They show you how much he hates Jon Snow. They show you how big of a dick he is. And they show you that he is without a doubt a Man of the Nights Watch and that he does his duty. Loved his speech early on with Jon Snow and the other guys on the wall. I also think that Thorne finally 2nd guessed his decision on not closing up the tunnel, and that he realized he does now want to be the Commander of the Nights Watch, and at the same time he realized why Mormont was grooming Jon Snow.

And I thought all the diff weapons the Wall had was awesome. That big arse anchor on a chain frozen into the wall was badass. And it was badass when that Giant shot that guy off the wall... really cool.

Also thought it was great that they had Janos Slynt tucking tail and hiding in the pantry with Gilly

So while it wasnt verbatim with the book, they still knocked it out of the park IMO. And, rarely is anything word for word with the books now. We are too far along, too many things have been pushed forward and changed... and thats not a bad thing at all.

I have a fond place in my heart for them because back when I was working all day and then going to school till about 10 at night and had a 40 mile drive to make to get home, Radio for the Blind book reads got me through a lot of those drives.

Some of the people who they get to read them are a lot better than others. Seamus Haeney was great reading Beouwulf. And Stephen Frey was also very good with Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Not sure who reads SOI&F though.
