the real question is who are they killing on the show that is still alive in the books as GRRM said recently.

Gendry?
Mance?
Margarey?
Jonah or Barristan?

Was he talking about this season or season's past? There's already been characters killed that are still alive in the books.

I doubt it's anyone of these. Especially the last 4, they are still vital to the story lines in future seasons.

maybe the Blackfish. In the books he didn't go to the RW but looks like he is headed there now.

Was it mentioned as being a complete departure from the book or maybe just a matter of perception?

We did see "Mance" die in the books, yet he is still alive. Same can kind of be said about Cat or The Mountain.

i dont think it'll be the Blackfish

his holding Riverrun against Siege was one of the crucial elements of Jaime's turnaround (handling everything with more tact instead of just violence)

and it was such a huge point that he escaped in the books, i think we see more of him in the future

I don't know that he said they were killing off more, just that there are characters dead in the show that are alive in the books...one of Dany's handmaidens, Irri, and Rakharo, a Dothraki...Minor characters that don't have any important backstory and could be easily replaced in the future with new characters.

The ones you listed are either essential to already-known future storylines - Mance, Margaery, and Jorah and Barristan - or the son of a King (actually two sons of King Robert when you consider that he's also taking the role of Edric Storm).

Some random wilding might not make it, or a sellsword in Essos (the other deaths have come from Dany's storyline already) but I would wager a very large sum of money that Barristan the Bold isn't about to get killed off in Season 3...

It's very possible that Talisa could die even though Jeyne didn't. Jeyne's future storyline in the book doesn't seem super important and involves her family that does not exist in the show, so keeping Talisa alive actually makes things more complicated than just killing her off (assuming Jeyne is not pregnant).

So what is Daario going to be in the series? A smooth talking son of a bitch with a Spanish accent perhaps?

with her, all I really want to know is if she is the honeypot or not. If she is keep her around let her go north and be on stonehearts hit list.

If Robb doesn't name an heir in this episode, I suspect she lives and is actually preggars.

Yeah, but I've forgotten almost everything except major events. I just edited after remembering her role in Cersei's trial and whatnot.

He did in the middle of last season. I'm pretty sure we all know who it was.

I want to post this in the middle ground thread regarding kinslaying. think this is ok??

quote:

I've seen a lot of talk in the non reader thread about Willy nilly killing off each other and wanted to update some of you regarding the westerosi thoughts to kinslaying....

quote:

Kinslaying is a great taboo in Westeros. When a member of family kills a relation he/she is dubbed a kinslayer. Any individual who slays a member of their own family is believed to be cursed forever in the sight of gods and men. [1] Many Lords andsmallfolk believe this and thus those who slay their own blood are usually looked down upon or shunned. There is a saying... (Old Gods or new Gods)“"No man is so accursed as the Kinslayer" [2][3][4][5][6][7]”
