Robb doesn't have a mentally challenged child in any book.

Have not read 4 or 5 at all. Halfway through 3, but stopped before I got to the red wedding.

i'm a Hodor, and was thinking about the books and show the other day.

we're on the 2nd half of book 3 right now in the show, correct. we have two more books to go.

for the readers, do you think the show will split up book 4 or 5 into two seasons like book 3?

also if GRRM doesn't finish books, do you think there will ever be a season where they focus on all the past stuff before book 1. like a prequel season for targaerans (Sp?), andal invasion, the doom, children of the forest, and all that other stuff i've heard about. woudl the readers even want that??

I think the general consensus is that we would like to see the Dunk and Egg stories filmed. I think they could do a whole season (or two) of GoT on the Rebellion and the events immediately following Kings Landing's sack.

Books 4 and 5 were originally intended to be one book but it was going to be too big so he split it into two books. Book 4 contains some characters and book 5 contains other characters but they both start at the same point in time. I would have to say that the next two seasons will be a mix of the next two books.

BTW, those who read the books as they were released had to wait 12 years to see half of the characters after book 3. Luckily for me I didn't read until 2002 so I only had to wait 10 years.

yeahi guess i meant more this route. you could still have familiar characters and since its like 20 or so yrs (is that right?) btwn then and now you could use different actors.

I believe they have ghost writers and an outline as to how he wants it to end. If he dies before completing the books, they will be finished by others.

I don't know about that, but I did just read that he told the two Game of Thrones creators how the books will end, in case he dies before finishing them.
If he dies before finishing the books, I think they should make the final season into a movie.

Don't give them any ideas. They'd kill him off to get this.

It would have to be broken up into a few movies.

Each show is an hour long, each season has 10 episodes, so that would be 3 3hour and 2 minute movies.

But no way in HELL HBO let's them do that

Robert's rebellion would be a great series.
Especially if they dive into the dream from Game of Thrones that was left out of season one.

Also Dunk and Egg would be good as a miniseries. Maybe a five episode arc?
IDK

I would like to see the conquest, but that could be a stand alone movie.

The books were ambiguous about a potential heir for Robb Stark. His wife simply disappears from the storyline after the red wedding and so there was a bunch of theories about her and a potential heir.

Based on the events in the show, I would be surprised if an heir to Robb Stark materializes in future books. LOL

I think the show writers effectively killed that theory.
