I have been rewatching some of season 1 and it sucks that we most likely won't ever see a huge dragon.

If this show is slated for three more seasons, I wonder how many years (if that) that would be in the GoT universe.

I think they want 7 seasons

If it doesn't pop up with Jon then it's done. The Brothers Without Banners hasn't been mentioned in a very long time.

We may never see a large dragon on this show, but I do believe that Game of Thrones won't be the only show in this universe.

Oh, last I saw it was 8. Good to know; I do not want the show to start dragging on for too long.

I would definitely welcome a show about Aegon the Conqueror or Robert's Rebellion.

On the contrary, I think the bigger thing they need to worry about is not having enough time to fit everything in smoothly

More is better for this show

I think we will. Reptiles never stop growing, and Drogon isn't very old, Also, it's TV. They don't have to follow realistic reptilian growth patterns.

What worries me most is that I doubt any story can live up to all of this buildup. I'm preparing to be underwhelmed by its conclusion.

Yeah, we all wanted to see her ride the dragon, and when she finally did, it was the worst looking effects of the entire series.

On the flip side, we've been waiting for Winter to Come forever and whenever it did, it was fricking amazing

The show did exceed the books in that regard, but Dany is going to have to get to Westeros one of these days, and she'll be the heavy focus of the story.

I guess they don't have the budget for a lifelike model of the dragon, one we don't see much of. Too bad. The dragon from Dragonslayer was terrifying, and that was 30+ years ago.

My idea is to go 7 seasons but the finale of the 7th season is to set up for the epic battle with the white walkers

Then do a 4-5 part final half season a year later where you can have an entire seasons budget that is dispersed on a smaller number of episodes

Or just tell HBO to pony the frick up and give them however much money they want

I'm not sure how to answer the Beric and Thoros question, but as to Mel, her powers are real. In the books, she knows that Davos is coming to kill her and he's arrested right after he gets to Dragonstone. She also gives Stannis the power to see the future in the flames, which is how she makes a believer out of him.

The way I sum up Mel and prophecy in general in my mind is best stated in this quote from Maester Marwyn citing Gorghan of Old Ghis. (This is just the musing of a minor character and doesn't have anything directly to do with Mellisandre or really anything else as far as I can tell. But I'll put some spoiler space just in case someone doesn't want to read it). It may well be GRRM's feelings on the subject:

- SPOILER-
Musings from
a minor character
in the books
-SPOILER-

quote:

Gorghan of Old Ghis once wrote that a prophecy is like a treacherous woman. She takes your member in her mouth, and you moan with the pleasure of it and think, how sweet, how fine, how good this is... and then her teeth snap shut and your moans turn to screams. That is the nature of prophecy, said Gorghan. Prophecy will bite your prick off every time.[2] ”

Honestly, I'm not young enough to demand perfect special effects. shite, one of my favorite childhood movies was Clash of the Titans, featuring Ray Harryhausen's signature, cheesy stop motion animation.

Is it too spoilery to talk about season 6 in this thread?

Thought so. It's not a huge spoiler; just a development in the growth of the show.

It's not a theory so it doesn't make sense in the crackpot thread, either. I guess I'll just keep it to myself.

How can anyone afford to feed something that big. I mean, what in the hell does something like that eat? A few mammoths for lunch or something? I would think that feeding something like that alone would bankrupt the realm, much less the number of dragons that the Targaryens had at one time.
