Yes

People can say what they want about the hints, but I don't think HBO wants the viewer to know these things. I think they want it to be a shocking, Twilight Zone moment and for the unspoiled, it's gonna be.
Depends on what books you have read. Some readers know nothing.

what i thought stannis was Roberts older brother??
If that were the case, Stannis would have been on the Iron Throne from the start.

Yep, he's the middle child, and a very appropriate and understandable one at that.

Only because you know their significance.
To the ignorant eye, they are not spoilers.

It's the great thing about A Song of Ice and Fire and the way these episodes are being done. As you go through the first time, a lot of things pass you by. You get shocked when big things happen, but if you go back and watch again, you could see hints of it coming from miles away. Same with the books. Hell the crackpot thread is nearly 300 pages and still coming up with new theories.
First episode has an adult Stag and adult Direwolf kill each other. Doesn't mean much on first viewing, but after watching the first season, you can see it foreshadowing Robert (Stag sigil) and Ned (Direwolf sigil) getting each other killed.
The Theon thing, yeah it's wanted to be a big shocking reveal (though I wonder if that moment came in this past episode, leaving the identity reveal to be not as shocking), but the hints are there, and there were some nonreaders that picked it out. It was pretty heavily laid on in that first episode with the imagery.

Not just a reader, but he read the books that haven't been written yet. That's why he can't close his damn mouth, he's in shock.

Yes, (the usurper) he took it by force which is what Renly was trying to do to his brother, Stannis.

yes. anyone who doesn't think historical info is a spoiler within the GOT universe needs to learn as much as possible. i htink it really adds to a watcher's understanding and enjoyment of the series.

By the way, am I the only one who wonders why someone would pay good money to frick a dickless, nutless bald kid up the arse?
Posted on 4/24/13 at 12:35 pm to blueboy
Should probably ask that on the OT, not here.

maybe i missed it but i don't think he was fricking him. literally anyway.
i think he paid for him so he could cut him and perform some wacko ceremony or whatever he did.

He didn't frick him. He wanted his peen for magic. Then he threw him out into the street.

So IF that were the case, Robert would have just been like "Happy Nameday, Stannis. Hope you enjoy!!"?

I don't think it would have made any difference if Stannis was older, Robert took the throne by force, not by birthright.

He took it by force, but he gained support for his rebellion because his claim to the throne was the strongest. The Baratheons had some Targ blood in them.
