Robert was born in 263 and Stannis in 265. Renly wasn't born until 278. Therefore, Stannis is much closer in age with Robert and I can easily see why their ages get mixed up. Stannis certainly looks more weathered than Robert did.

I guess fathering killer shadow babies really takes it's toll on a guy.

Actually, the books allude to Stannis's rapidly advancing age as a byproduct of the shadow assassin.

In unrelated news, my brand new Game of Thrones board game shipped today. I'm going to be a reaving machine in a few days.

Good excuse for a trip to New Orleans some time.

Not that I would play the game, just use it as an excuse to go to New Orleans.

First time venturing here. I'm a quasi-reader, generally limited to past history stuff, but I want to be surprised as I watch it on the show.

Is this the place for me?

If you are a quasi reader why do always throw a bitchfest in the nonreader thread?

I'll make sure to refer that to any douchebag asshats who call girls count that I come across.

1) Duh, because that was the thread I thought I belonged in, and 2) Because readers were being assholes for no fricking reason other than to be assholes.

You are welcome here but let's not start arguing about that reader/nonreader crap in here. This thread has actually been relatively free of that (despite blueboy trying to derail it last night ).

As for spoilers, I haven't seen anything spoiled yet and readers have done a good job for the most of not talking about things from after the point in time the show is at.

eta: I'm not calling you out specifically for the arguing USMC, I see where you were provoked. The no arguing comment is for everyone.

Now back to the good stuff.

I couldn't agree more. It's so abysmal to click on the given thread and see it devolve into that. I think I'll have to monitor this thread a bit to determine if it's the right one for me. I thought it may be when I started seeing more and more questions in the nonBR thread about past stuff that I knew but didn't want to say.

My take is, if it happened pre-episode, it's fair game, otherwise, no. Is that about right?

ETA: and the only reason I've reacted strongly in the past is because I felt people were spoiling or quasi spoiling, not to be helpful, just to be dicks.

FYI for the nonreaders: Do not venture into the GoT art thread, while the art is excellent, some of the subject matter is dark and full of major spoilers.
