Ok I've had some time to reflect on last night's episode and I'm ok with the fact they didn't win. If they obtained total glory all in the first season by winning sectionals and regionals it would be hard to top that accomplishment the following year. This gives us the viewers something to root for in season 2.

I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed seeing Olivia Newton John going against type and playing a bitch last night.

I know. It's crazy.

I liked Bohemian Rhapsody though, a lot.

I don't think it has to be this cut and dry if you're a guy. I love music and because it's done with costumes and dance numbers doesn't change that. They've taken songs I really enjoy and given them a different spin. Sometimes I enjoy it (Young Girl/Don't Stand So Close To Me) and other times have made it worse (Faithfully last night).

Third, the chick who's portrayed as the star of the high school choir has a good voice but nothing to go ape shite over.

That's crazy talk. You make it sound like she has an average voice, but she's head and shoulders above everyone else on the show. Yeah, that Ruthie chick had a great voice, and it's songs like I Dreamed a Dream that I fast forward btw.

Very true. I am guilty of taking my frustration at having to watch a show I would have otherwise avoided out on those who enjoy it. My bad.

Certainly not average but not comparable to the Ruthie Henshall's and Patti Lupone's of the musical world.

She owned Les Mis, but to say that Lea Michele isn't as talented is insane. Also, that particular poster was comparing Idina Menzel specifically in that song.

Lea Michele (and Johnathon Groff for that matter) was in the original cast of Tony Award Winning Spring Awakening and she was nominated for a Drama Desk award for her performance.

I watch the show because my wife is a high school teacher and she has a thing for shows in that setting. For the most part I've enjoyed the first year but agree Mr. Shue is annoying as hell. I particularly enjoy Sue and the super dense cheerleader.

I will say that I enjoy this show immensely. I like the premise and the actors. The rendition of To Sir, With Love was beautiful and so apt, and so well done that I have no problem admitting that it made me weepy.

And it was worth it to see Sue cry!

I absolutely adored the finale. I am very excited about next season, but I'm curious how they;re going to go beyond 2 seasons with 20somethingyearold actors playing HS kids. I already thought they were seniors this season

Ok I just thought of something...

in the second to last episode they did the "funk" themed singing & invited Vocal Adrenaline to come see it. Obviously Vocal Adrenaline were taken back because it's the one genre they haven't been able to pull off.

If New Directions had a good handle on the funk genre, something VA couldn't pull off, why wouldn't they have used that at regionals to win?

My first TV board post- I DVRed and just watched last night's episode and had to share how brilliant I think this show is. I know it gets corny and preachy, but Sue's great lines combined with the music and choreography make such a totally fun hour of viewing. Can't wait to watch the repeats this summer to catch some of the dialog I missed the first time through. Oh, and I cried at the end.

Cause it was all about the "journey"

That was the very question my wife posed immediately after the Journey medley was selected. If you're aware of your opponents Achilles heel there is no reason not to exploit it unless the episode's writer is a huge Journey fan.

this is true. they build up the whole season by doing various types of songs. when it gets to the regional, they sing Journey.

Did each team only get the chance to sing one song?

I find that this show leaves out a lot of the finer detail info. i guess "what do you expect". it's a show about a glee club.

my wife cried at the end.

I don't know if this is the case, but I guess realistically they needed new songs.

Plus, I mean, if they won in the first season, where would they go after that?

The Sir With Love song got to my wife. She gets very close to her students and that really hit home with her.

I thought the finale was great. Loved the Journey mash-up as it was a nod to what they started with. I'm allright with them not winning regionals, as it mirrors real life for a lot of people. Not everybody wins and they end up being so damn happy just to be able to be together and be in Glee club. I like Mr. Shue. I think he's done a good job as an actor. Great montage and marriage of plot to Bohemian Rhapsody. Really looking forward to watching the whole season when it comes out on dvd.
