Are there any movies in the last 5 years that can stand up to these Juggernauts of fiction loosely based on historical events?

*Looking for something to watch.

Hercules with the Rock is surprisingly pretty good.

If you didn’t like KoH, you might want to catch the Director’s Cut. I have yet to see even people who hated the original cut not like the Directors Cut.

It's not exactly the same type of movie, but I love Apocalypto.

I'll second that. That's a good one. The shite Mel Gibson put the extras through is pretty funny also.

While all are fictional dramatizations....one of these is not like the others.

And in my opinion, no, there isn’t.

Director’s cut KoH is a godamned national treasure.

Agreed! How did the original cut get past editing?

They are really averse to putting 3+ hour movies in theaters.

The only one in recent years that seems to fit alongside those is Hacksaw Ridge.

Great fricking movie.

If I ever win the lottery, I’m funding a sequel. I’d love a good conquistador movie done with that level of quality.

I agree. I liked that movie. Even saw it twice in theaters. It’s silly fun and well made.

If you hadn’t included 300, I would say no, but I would put Interstellar, Thor: Ragnorok, and Rogue One all above 300.

ETA: I see you’re asking about historical fiction, and I don’t think there’s anything that comes close. I would recommend Marco Polo as a netflix series, though.
