Just got back from Gatsby. Thought it was phenomenal. Admittedly one of my favorite books, but movie was beautiful, acting was great. Leo played Gatsby fantastically.

I thought he did a great job. They casted the movie quite well.

I've heard it's nothing but a commercialized, modernized blunder.

The book is my favorite of all time. Just finished it tonight again actually. Love the Robert Redford movie. Was excited last spring when I heard about it. Couldn't believe it got moved from last Christmas.

We'll see. Don't like seeing rap music in a movie about the 1920s.

It's ok. Visually it looks incredible. The acting was pretty good.

I'm probably not the best judge cause as I've said a million times in discussions about the book, I just don't think it's a very good story and it shows in the movie.

To each his own though. It was a valiant effort at an adaptation. I don't know how in the world I'd turn that book into a movie.

When the trailer I saw listed more rap artists than credible actors....I got a little worried.

Ill download it when it hits the shelves.

I'll never understand how people get disappointed if there aren't breasts in movie/TV shows. If you're that in need of seeing them, go watch some porn or something.

Baz Luhrmann is the worst candidate alive for making a Gatsby movie.

I was nervous about the music as well, but I think it was fine IMO. When taking into account the main theme of Gatsby's life at the end of the book, wanting the present to recede into the past, it makes it actually kind of work in a weird way.

If you have no appreciation/understanding of the book, you will not enjoy it. The rotten tomato critics I've read so far have been pretty damn ridiculous. I understand the music critique, but mod of those people have very obviously not read the book. The movie stayed surprisingly a lot closer to the book than I thought it would.

Lurhmann should stick to music videos and musicals.

I'm sure the movie looks great and has a nice soundtrack

It probably was, but it is about on par for some of the actual critiques I've read thus far.

I read one where they hated the movie because the first half was faster paced than the second. This was from an actual critic, I'll try and find it again. Literally, have they even read the book?
