Gary Oldman's iconic "EVERYONE!" line was never meant to make the final cut

In the below interview, he's talking to a guy about which movies fans tend to bring up when they meet him on the street. The Professional is among them and a lot of people randomly scream, "EVERYONE!" at him while he's minding his own business. He explains how that particular take was supposed to be a joke to make people on the set laugh. Luc Besson liked it so much he put it in the final cut of the film.

It's actually perfect delivery. He is desperate and concerned and scared and a psychopath so it would be something that character would do.
He is a tremendous actor and I can't get enough of him on Slow Horses. He did a great job playing Churchill.

Great show - Oldman has been starring as Jackson Lamb in the hit espionage streaming series Slow Horses.

Gary Oldman is the kind of actor where I have absolutely no clue what he's actually like in real life because all of his characters are so different and unique.

I'll have to re-watch this. I don't know if I have watched from beginning to end and that was years ago.
It's kind of disappointing that this was done as a joke and he didn't come up as part of the true character. Because it fits so well and jolts you a little and shows you this guy is on edge. I would've though Oldman would've come up with that as his character instead of a joke. But it is great.

"It's the beard" - Aragorn.
* He call pull that off as a joke yet it still gets put in the movie . Even after a few other clowning around takes.

I've seen another interview where he said he was going to scream it to surprise the rest of the cast who expected a calm delivery.
Now maybe he screamed it to joke with Luc and also surprise the cast.
Either way it was perfect.

It's part of the creative process. Try different approaches, techniques, etc, and sometimes a little bit of gold comes out.
