I haven't gone back to rewatch yet...but how did the Giant get in that hut? Didn't he have to bust out of it?

I think those are Wights that have been Wights for a while. The ones that look more human are the ones who were more recently turned.

I think it's more of a matter of the level of decay that the dead body was in prior to being resurrected.

Havent posted all season.

Quick rundown of my opinion:

This season was horrible until Hardhome.

Arya's story is a huge letdown. Up until now im pretty sure her entire part was filmed in one day.

One thing is clear, Jon Connington is going to play a huge role this season

If you're not havhing Connington in there, having Jorah get greyscale was a pretty good story line imo.

Jamie's story sucks. But he's one of the more popular characters so I guess it's better than having him sit at casterly rock.

I wish they made life a little harder on Cersei, Reek and Jorah. And Stannis' march. I love how brutaly bad they were treated. The show isnt letting people know how bad they actually had it.

Ramsey taking 20 men out to meet Stannis is random. If that happens.

The dornish women have really nice tits.

I wanted some Yara story but I figured she was getting cut.

Daario's actor is still the worst actor of all time. I mean it's almost painful how hard it is for him to try and be cool. This guy has got to be the most boring guy ever in real life.

There's more things that suck and a few things I like, but the ol seizures limit me on trying to recall stuff that happened over a month ago.

Well son, that's too long. (I think that was actually the hook line for a breakfast sausage commercial waaay back in the day).

I'm actually really enjoying her Bravos storyline. Pretty true to the book and I think they captured the House of Black and White and Bravos well.

Totally agree. I don't think they did either him or Bronn any favors by sticking them in that storyline though, at least with the way it was done.

Very random. Not to mention kind of stupid sounding. I guess they are going somewhere with that but WTH?

One thing that I wondered is whether they put so much time and effort and money into the Hardhome story that it leached some of that stuff away from other things (like Dorne) and that's why those stories weren't up to par. (Though I will admit I liked the Bronn and the Sand Snakes in jail pretty good. Sure, mostly because of those tits but I also liked Bronn singing The Dornishman's Wife and the give and take with the SS.

I think Ramsey taking a gorilla strike against Stannis' camp will serve two purposes.

One with be to allow Sansa and Reek a window to escape. I have a feel as soon as Reek steps foot outside Winterfell, Sansa will make a beeline for the candle. I think next season we will have the traveling tales of Sansa, Reek, and Brienne (and maybe Pod, but I have a feeling someone is gonna die in the escape attempt).

Second is to weaken Stannis' army (and possibly kill Stannis) and force it back to Castle Black. This will put Melisandre in a position to possibly resurrect Jon, and it will add more men to Jon's host.

Storyline not so much for me, the look of the house of black and white for sure. They just made it too easy for her, and didnt change her appearance enough.

Probably blew all the makeup and special effects budget for the Hardhome sequence.
Seriously though, I hope they saved some budget or at least some creative expertise for the last two episodes.

The maester aemon death was semi surprising. I was actually hoping they would get sent off. Wouldnt have minded Sam being a true maester.

But that old dude probably died in real life and they approached the family like "Umm do you mind if we borrow him for one more day. He would be really good for this scene."

I posted this in the crackpot thread but since some don't go there-
quote:

George RR Martin is going to be doing nothing at all bar writing until his next novel The Winds of Winter is complete. At least that's what he'll have you believe, as the 67-year-old is determined to see the book on shelves before season six of Game of Thrones hits HBO.

Fans have been waiting since 2011 for the sixth instalment in his A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series, on which the popular TV show is based. Finally, it's sounding hopeful that we'll actually see it in the not too distant future.

"Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish, but I cancelled two convention appearances (San Diego Comic Con and World Convention), I'm turning down a lot more interviews - anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Martin also decided against writing a Game of Thrones episode this year as he has done in previous seasons, to focus entirely on the A Dance With Dragons follow-up.

Seems like at this point they've raked in enough money to let them spend about as much as they want to.

The final season is gonna be expensiveeeeee

Wights, WWs, dragons, and god knows what else? HBO will need to hand over a blank check

I just hope the execs at HBO don't get cheap and pay their debts like a Lannister would.

I hope this means he has gotten his writing mojo going. I've always guessed that some sort of writer's block for the finish of the story must have factored into the long delays. It certainly hasn't been a pure lack of time. He's found time for the Dunk and Egg novelas and time to shephard a number of ASOI&F projects through.

I don't begrudge him cashing in like that nor do I begrudge him wanting to have a good time and hang out at Conventions and such. But the long delay just seems like maybe he didn't have the story where he wanted it in his mind to the extent where he was super motivated to write it.
