it's already all over that Kitt Harrington has signed a two year extension so whatever happens this season means he's back next season no matter what.

Are they completely cutting out the Greyjoy stuff this season?

Other than Asha/Yara yes. They're already casting for either Euron or Victarion for next season.

Can you guys explain where Randall Tarly has been shown to have a bigger part coming in the show? I can't place anything about him beside Stannis and Sam talking about him

this scene in season 2 should have been him, but they gave it to Loras

I think it should be in the top 3-5 episodes IMO.

I was kinda thinking they may have a very abbreviated version of the KingsMoot with just Victorian v. Yara. And Victorian sacking Oldtowne to establish his bona fides. They could maybe even have Theon make a claim if he's still alive only to be laughed out of the hall or something.

This is all probably a long shot though. And I wouldn't really miss it if they skipped the whole thing.

The one storyline that I really miss that it looks like they are skipping over is the whole Northern Conspiracy/Frey Pie subplot. That always seemed to me to be an integral part of the Northern part of the story.

I might put it in the top 10. I like the battle episodes, but this one didn't do it for me as much as others, for some reason.

Kit Harrington is a really talented sword fighter, though, albeit in choreographed form.

I wouldn't go that far. It was good, but it was no Blackwater, Rains of Castamere or Watchers on the Wall.

It was certainly better than "Watchers on the Wall". So much damn filler in that episode that you could have cut it nearly in half if you really wanted to. Every scene here was important though and was ridiculously more tense. Watchers on the Wall was a celebration of excess, much like the Hobbit.

I absolutely think this was a top 5 episode of the series so far. I was left feeling so hyped and excited for what's to come with the White Walkers invading Westeros. I think the episode did a perfect job of showing the unimportance and insignificance of the petty politics of Westeros as a whole before addressing the real plot of the series- the impending battle for the survival of Man and Society against the armies of the dead.

Been avoiding this thread. Just watched the episode.

Mother. Of. God.

The final scene where the Night King reawakens the dead wildlings. Holy shite.

It's just a battle, and you know who is going to win. There's no real tension to it. All you have on one side is Jon and Sam and on the other brutal Wildings. It's well shot, but it doesn't hold a candle to Blackwater. On Blackwater, you've got Tyrion on one side with every character you despise at his back, and on the other you have the rightful king and Davos who seems truly Lawful Good. When I was a Hodor, my optimal scenario was Stannis winning the battle, with Bronn and Tyrion escaping, and going back to Tywin to fight another day.

It just reeks of "The Battle of Five Armies" to me. Yes, it's well shot and exciting on the surface, but there's no substance to it, you know what's going to happen, and you could easily cut down the battle by half.

Shakespeare once wrote: "Brevity is the soul of wit". It just means don't waste my time; keep it nice and simple. I wouldn't be shocked if D&D planned on Hardhome itself from the start to be a full episode battle, but once they saw the end results of WotW, they knew they needed to cut it down.

This is a perfect battle. It was perfectly done. The battle was exactly as long as it needed to be. It was a better episode than Watchers on the Wall by a long shot.

Just a reminder on Hugo's initial body count for the episode.

I don't even like zombies and I loved the last 15-20 minutes so much. I felt so much tension that then turned into a totally creeped out feeling. I didn't like it at all but I loved it so much. When the WW started making the rise up motion...

I liked this episode better than Blackwater, but I'd say it was equal to the Red Wedding.
