how do people grasp everyone's name so quickly? Do you read the books or do you just catch on that fast?

I read spoiler free, season primers to learn a little background on the players this year.

I think Cersei did as well, I just don't know how Joffrey would know which bastard would be Robert's.

he probably knew someone knows where the bastards are. Especially varys and littlefinger who keeps tabs on everything.

I've watched Season One *twice* since it premiered last year. Plus I read a couple chapters of the second book of the series. Couldn't go any further because school started back up and never could get back into it after the fact.

Melisandre. Red priestess from the free cities. Follows the lord of light instead of the seven, the old gods, or the drowned gods.

He directly asks his mother who and where they are, and she slaps him. He doesn't know and I see no reason why Varys or Littlefinger would tell him where they are.

He doesn't have to know. All he has to do is to give an order to have them killed. His men do the work for him after that. All he has to know is that they exist in order to kill them.

Everyone knew Robert was sleeping around and there were bound to be some bastards around.

Cersei is the one who ordered the bastards be killed. She realized how she and Jaime were found out, all Robert's children have black hair and the proof is all of his bastards have black hair. So with the rumors about her and Jaime starting to circulate it's imperative she get rid of the evidence or else her children will be declared illegitimate and lose the throne

That makes sense. Cersei is worse than Joffrey in my opinion. Joffrey can't really help it because he's a psychopath who needs mental help. You know...a product of incest. Cersei, however, is completely sane and yet she still does these immensely evil things.

This is correct.

Joeffrey isnt clever enough, nor does he have the inkling to understand the severity the bastards effect have on his claim to the throne.

Yep, that's my theory.

Am I the only one who thinks they made Melisandre to attractive? In the book they only really talk about how she is radiant and stunning when she is praying and stuff. But in the show she's friggin hot

It's not a theory, but fact. Cersei has been keeping tabs on the bastards for years. Also, that whore who's baby got killed had Robert in season 1 mention her, and she was seen boasting of it about the whorehouse.

Joffrey is sadistic enough to have them killed though because their births are an insult to his mother and he isn't completely clueless about the bastards trying to claim his throne. Even though he doesn't believe he's a product of incest he knows others do and he knows they will use that to their advantage.

Joffrey is not smart enough to though. He doesn't know who Robert's bastards are, while Cersei likely would.

you are probably right and I can't remember if anything was said in the book. I'm just saying he could have ordered the bastards to be killed even if he didn't know who or where they are. It's not out of this realm to assume there were some bastards out there.
