I think the reason I’m so let down by this is because I watched Endgame earlier today.

Yeah, one lived up. The other gave into fan service and intersectionalism.

I mean come on there’s so many memes about winter is coming since season 1.

Dare someone to show me any kind of hints that Cersei is the big bad until like the second half of the series.

I enjoyed the episode but they've definitely gotten soft since they stopped following the books.

Because it was in the middle of a giant war with thousands of rabid dead people murdering everything in their sight. And then they just stop and tip toe through the halls of winterfell which is apparently the most soundproofed building ever constructed, but only at certain times when it wants to be?

That’s nitpicky, man. An otherwise fine and suspenseful scene. Makes sense some zombies would just be going around some rooms looking for those hiding in good hiding spaces.

Yea but...uhhhh....in hindsight it was one of the most important threads because this scene was tracking the one person who would kill the NK.

No one to blame for that but that lazy windbag, Martin.

Arya climbed the tree early. There was fast movement in the shadows before the dead came in heavy, and it was not coming into Theon and Bran. That was Arya, picking her tree.

Never saw any of this.

There was a shot of the white walker with a breeze blowing his hair then Arya jumped out

It was inferred she was running by silently for the kill
If I remember the timing, it was right around the time Theon was saying "make every shot count", or maybe the next time they cut to him.
They were shooting dead with arrows, and you see something move in the shadows behind Theon from right to left, and it was quick. My son commented "Theon's about to die".
But Theon and the other archers kept shooting zombies coming straight at them, and none moved laterally like that movement.

Gonna look at a rewatch for that, to confirm. I only caught it because I noticed the movement, and then my son commented like he did at that moment. And he even said afterwards he was just talking about things going bad... he didn't see the movement.

At the time I thought it was the dead circling him, but it didn't seem like they ever really did that. They kept coming from the front mostly.

I think that was Arya skirting the battle from behind, and picking out a tree based on Bran's location.

When’s the last time GoT had a shocking death from a big character? Ever since we’ve been without Martin’s direction it seems like everything on the show has been straight fan service.

It doesn’t even have to be “shocking.”

This was the most lopsided battle in the history of the show. The main characters that people cared about managed to hang on after being pinned against the wall for 20-30 mins, we lose two characters who died heroically but no one is TRULY invested in and then we just have an easy dunk of a conclusion...also without any emotional consequence to the viewer.

The spectacle was great, but so is it in some Michael Bay movies.

There will be incessant bitching regardless of how this episode turns out.

Welp, that was predictable.

Also watching the after credits with the writers they said they've known for 3 years that Arya would be the one to kill the Night King.

Do we even know at this point if Rhaegal is dead? And Ghost?!

No clue how I’m going to fall asleep tonight and function at work tomorrow. So many questions!

I'm don't care so much about the time travel stuff in Endgame anymore. I actually like it better now.

The whole point of this entire story is that the living are the truly dangerous and will continue to be.

They can't stop stomping on their own dicks.

It's going to end with how it was hundreds of years ago.

I bet it will cut to a future version of that fat Sam guy, telling youngsters about the myth of white walkers.

Or Jon could have called out the NK on the battlefield and see if he would step up.

Then you didn't understand what made the NK so terrifying. He had zero ego. He was a singularly focused force of nature.

Rhaegal is alive, he was shown in the preview. No idea about Ghost.

It's nitpicky to say it's ridiculous they made the ever so faint sound of blood dripping a trigger for wights when dragons were roaring about 50 yards away and raining fire down on a massive war? nah, im sorry, that's just weak.

Even my wife, who loves Arya and defends the show constantly, was like “Wow, that was bad. It’s over just like that? That kind of sucks.”

I liked it, and not to be rude but I should give a shite what you and you poor wife think? That’s not going to change my opinion.
