I don't think I understand Melisandre's purpose/prophecy at all. So...is there an Azor or not? Is the Lord of Light real? She predicted she would see Arya again, that she would take many faces etc...but why was she screwing around with Stannis at all if she knew that Arya was going to be the one to kill the Night King? Wasn't that Stannis' whole thing? That he would end the long night? And she thought she saw him in the flames? But she saw...Arya? Totally lost with her.

There was literally no story or context for that scene. It is the same as any really by the numbers action movie where the hero appears from nowhere to redeem everything. I like Arya and I'm far from a purist but it was extremely lame.

Well by line of succession shouldn’t little Sam be the new night king

but also kind of a dud from the Night King.
This. This is why it’s a complete choke job. The NK got snuck up on and stabbed by a dagger? Really?
I couldn’t imagine them fricking this up but they did. All that build up for him, him as this complete badass, Him vs Jon. And it ends like that? Choke job

I feel like a 1st year film student could have written and directed that episode.
bruh...

Also, I think people need to remember we have 3 episodes left... not 1. There will be plenty of time for them to expound more on the NK, what he was after (even more than just Bran is basically a human library), recovery from the battle, etc. before getting into the fight with Cersei.

First 30 minutes: pretty terrible. Felt like a lazy action movie where the director relies on close up/quick cut action shots.
Final 45 minutes: excellent. Didn't rely on big action scenes involving hundreds of people (i.e. $) and had some legit, well directed intense scenes like Arya in the library.
Has anyone seen the film "High Rise"? Not a great movie by any means, but the final ~15 minutes of this episode felt heavily derived from the film, with classical style instruments used to play semi-modern tunes during lengthy scenes. I'm not doing a good job describing it, but as soon as the episode was over, I checked to see if it was directed by the same person.
Also, garbage battle tactics by the living in this episode. I get that the Dothraki are best attacking, but they need to let the dead attack, use the trebuchets for as long as possible, then have the horsefolk attack.

Were yall expecting Jon to just best this supernatural being in a sword fight? They made it obvious in the last episode that the plan was to more or less assassinate him. That’s why Bran was in the godswood. That was the entire point.
Now people are shocked and pissed that the only trained assassin in the area, that has proven to be fricking ruthless and silent (and worships the god of death) is the one that killed him?
Nobody in winterfell was more equipped to kill him than Arya. It was going to take stealth and superior training. Nobody was going to just beat this dude in a frickin sword fight

I actually thought andposted last week that she might have to sacrifice Bran to get his face in order to get close enough. When Bran thank Theon, I thought she might have done the job while Theon was fighting.

It was an awesome episode. Holy shite I thought they were all done. They did a good job making you forget about what the real objective was in this episode.
