I still can't get over how useless the other white walkers were. They showed a ton of them in a row at the end of e2 and they did nothing

I’m most bothered by wights breaking through stone crypts while last season a wooden box kept one in check.

Because the Winds of Winter would deal with the Night King and A Dream Of Spring would deal with after the Night King is dealt with?

Kinda like this season seems to be going.

I’m honestly not sure if the Night King in the show’s form actually exists in the books. There haven’t really been direct hints of him. I think a Night King could rise, but he may be one of the characters we already know.

Well they didn't have to, did they?

They thought they had won

Wasn’t shown, but tagged and bagged possibly

I don’t understand why it was so calm until Sandor kicked the box over

I said this during the episode

But it's small enough of a detail I can look past. Maybe the cripts were in really bad shape and thin, while the wood box was hardened oak with steel bindings/rivets.

Everyone who asks this question so far is called an idiot for some reason.

There are only two logical courses of action now: Arya slaughters Cersei and her crew in their sleep at Kings Landing or Arya dies in the next episode.

Anything else will make no sense.

Cersei is just some dumb bitch. Arya snuck up, out witted, and killed a super natural magical god just now surrounded by his magical body guards. Surely she can go kill some blonde bimbo.

If you assasinate Cersei like that, there will be a power vacuum. A show of force is still needed by whoever will take the throne

ETA: not to mention the golden company, etc. I would imagine they would fight in Cersei’s name in hopes that whoever takes over for her would repay her debt to the iron bank

LAST WEEK the Hodors were defending the wasted episode with 'the walkers are the only thing that matters" and today they're pushing "the walkers don't matter. it's all about the Iron Throne!" narrative. they're suffering from battered wife syndrome

“The Long Night” I think is the beginning of the endgame. We needed a calm before the storm, since Cersei isn’t going to be waiting around. I still defend that episode as being really good, and this season has certainly been better than the last so far. It’s just the Arya thing took me completely off guard and I think is a bit of a betrayal to all the prophesies we’ve been told over the years.

Yeah.

You mean like a King and Queen each riding their own dragon with their supernatural perfect assassin lurking in the shadows at all times?

Mercenary army's don't usually fight out of loyalty to a dead person. Jon could just ride down and say OK your debt is forgiven. Anyone who still wants to fight can be eaten or burned to death.

What was the point of always mentioning who had valaryian swords? You could've given Jaime and the others something else to do besides yell and groan every 10 minutes

Her dragons have been hurt once, they can be hurt again. Who knows what kind of shap they are in after last night.

Plus Dany doesn’t want to burn the city to ashes (yet)

Jon doesn’t rule the iron bank. He has no authority of forgiving the debt. The Iron Bank’s best chance of collecting is fighting Jon/Dany and collecting from whoever defeats them

If Jon and Dany win, the iron bank is SOL

What's the possibility of the group at Winterfell using deception to get into Kings Landing?

How quickly would word spread of their victory?

In all of these major wars in the show, some deception has been used by one side or the other.

Just for laughs I figured I would share what a co-worker told me today on what he thinks is going to happen.

“Yea so now that Arya killed the NK, I’m thinking she will take his face and powers. Battle will not be going favorably at Kings Landing and she will resort to this and raise their dead to overpower Cersei’s army.”

pretty sure the Iron Bank would rather work with the side that has 2 dragons

A lot of blowback also exists if you disagree with who the villain is here.

To me, having read the books as well, the villain of this show has always been the Others. The entire thing was Winter is indeed coming, and everyone needs to recognize it and get their shite together on the political end.

The writers had a different take which is fine but not something I agree with or how I would see Martin writing it. The show-runners have Cersei as the ultimate villain, which is where we are.

Not saying its terrible, but to me the show was about the impending march of the Others on the Seven Kingdoms.

Of course you could make the point that its all about politics and fighting for the throne and the Others were secondary, but to me it was about NK and WW as the true villain. Hence some of the backlash we are having.

The unfortunate thing is all the true villains in Littlefinger, Tywin, Euron and Varys have either been killed or neutered, and Cersei is simply a stupid pawn. I’m of the later opinion that the political stuff is of the primary importance and the Others are secondary. In that way, I am pleased by the episode, but the NK death is completely anticlimactic and borderline insulting.
