Yeah, I don't get the army size discussion. There is 0% chance the show will strictly adhere to the books just for that one thing.
Plus, they already had Jaime say the Reach was the 2nd largest, which begs the question: who is the largest? I'm betting it's the Vale.
Outside chance it's Dorne.

For some reason, this post had me rolling:
The stuff I bolded is absolute gold. Then he finished the post off with "I love this series". Really? I would think you'd be paying a little more attention if you actually loved it.

Anyone else think Queen Margery is the finest lady on the show? I do.
I was genuinely happy to see Sansa and Jon reunite. And I liked that the long haired guy Jon wants to be the new Lord Commander evidently has a thing for Brienne.
I don't know if it's possible, but I really hope that Jon and Sansa go to the Iron Islands (is that what it's called?) to meet up with Theon and the Greyjoys and head to Winterfell and destroy Ramsay.
I really hate Ramsay, but my God that dude gives a great performance every time he's on screen.
In the third episode didn't the Imp untie the dragons? I can't remember what happened after that?
I love this series.

2) the Boltons/Freys. Not sure how LF would siege his way past. I think a naval convoy around to Whiteharbor makes more sense. Especially if Manderly is in on this.
I very seriously doubt Manderly is in on LF bringing the Knights of the Vale up North. I do not think he would oppose it though if he caught wind. I agree that coming in through Eastwatch by the Sea would be the best course of action. They have to cross half the breadth of Westeros to get to Winterfell, but it would be through Brandon's Gift, which is relatively flat and clear if i recall, not wooded of mountainous.

so is Jamie still team Cersei since he never found out she was fricking Lancel and the kettlebacks and moonboy? Uncle Kevan needs to set him aside and show him whats up and get his redemption ark going at some point

I posted some of that earlier. Yeah Jon and Sansa just waltz into the castle of the family who betrayed them and took Winterfell. Yeah makes total sense.

Understand that part I just done see any textual support for another army having a technology/training advantage like the English Longbow corps. Maybe the Lannisters' wealth allows them to keep more knights in the field?
True. I guess if someone found a shite ton of Valyrian steel to make swords/pikes, etc. that would help against other living armies (like - I think - iron/steel weapons helped against bronze ones)as well as the white walkers. But that seems highly unlikely.
And the Wildlings did try mammoths (ala Hanibal) and a few Giants. But that didn't save them against Stannis.
So yeah. At least as far as we know, there is no secret weapons out there for the man v. man fights.

Looks like a Mereeneese Red Priestess to me.
She says ha has a lot of knowledge but there is more to learn...such as his Targaeryan blood.

Is it just me, or are they not really worrying too much about Winter anymore? Stannis' army got bogged down in snow taking the Kingsroad south with his army. Pathfinding without a road with all that snow seems like a big lapse/leap in logic.
I mean, as far as the Boltons know, Littlefinger is still on their side, right? Unless ravens went out saying otherwise. Perhaps they'd be suckered into believing he's there to help with the Jon Snow-Wildling menace and just let him over the Causeway.

1) what happened to the original Dothraki who followed Danarys across the desert? Are they just SOL living in Mauren?
I read that as "living in Maureen" and laughed like a 12 year old. I'm so ashamed.

Stannis wasn't just coming down the Kingsroad. He went through the mountains in the west to unite the mountain tribes then came south to Winterfell through the Wolfswood.

Did they make this clear on the show?

I'm thinking it may be Dorne. The Frog Prince tells Danny that he has 50,000 foot in Dorne + knights just waiting for the two of them to land at Sunspear.

I'm still in season two playing catchup. This is the book readers thread, I thought we were talking book lore here :(

What if Dany brings the Khalesar horde over to conquer Westeros, but end up fighting the White Walkers?
