Everyone finally willing to come to terms that Jon wasn't in Ghost, and the scene with Ghost looking at Jon waking up wasn't a "nod to the readers"?
And Edd is still the best.
And Edd is still the best.

He's insinuating the Umbers killer another direwolf cut off its head and presented that one. He is also insinuating that the great northern conspiracy is real dammit.

Reed stabbed him in the back, wonder if that is going anywhere? Just seemed off putting, especially for someone as honorable as Ned.
Which is why Reed had to repent for being a slimy bastard, Mr. High Septon.

Well I'm sure Ned was somewhat happy somebody put down Dayne seeming he was about to get Dawn shoved 4 feet up his arse.

There ain't no Great Northern Conspiracy here. There is no way that the Umbers in the books would've given Rickon up to Ramsay, to be tortured or whatever springs to that psycho bastards mind. They know he was crazy enough to kill his father, so why give him up to the crazy bastard, even if it is to gain his trust. Ramsay may end up not torturing Rickon, but it would be so far out of character for him not to that it would be laughable if he doesn't. And at the first sighting of Jon, Ramsay would kill Rickon right in front of him, and the Umber know it.
Maybe Rickon somehow makes it out alive, and maybe the Umbers did this as a ruse to gain Ramsay's trust, but this is crappy storytelling considering what a monster they've made Ramsay out to be, and everyone (including the Umbers) know it.

I want the GNC to be real as well.
Might be fuzzy on the memory, just thought tons of dire wolves weren't running around anymore.
Though the Umbers are right there at the Wall...

And why did they only have 2 Kingsguard there? It seems pretty easy to just add one more.
I really liked the episode, but why the change here? Only the book readers will notice the difference. It just seems as if they're trying to piss us off.
That and the fact that Ned is actually questioning what is going on there, when in the books it's simply a series of statements with no one beating around the bush on what is up those damn stairs.

Edit: I know the book says that Reed killed Dayne but I didn't remember there being a lot of emphasis on him being sneaky and stabbing him in the back...I might be misremembering though.
The Crannogmen are known to be sneaky as hell, and that is why no one ever tries to conqueror the neck.

Alright y'all what is the consensus on Umbers?

I think the point of it is to show that history and lore are not always repeated exactly the way they happened. I think it's a setup to show us what really happened between Lyanna and Rhaegar, as opposed to the story everyone was told. They also took the time to remind us of the convo Sansa and LF had in the crypt about what she was told happened between L&R.

I enjoyed the episode but the Sam/Gilly scenes are just brutal. That boat needs to sink already.
