Nobody knows, and we won't get an explanation. That part of the scene was not done that great. Would have been the worst scene of the episode if not for Danny mucking it up again.
I guess we are to just assume they ran.. maybe closed a door or killed the dogs. Even if they were able to kill the dogs, they had to go anyways, The entire Dreadfort had to be awake by then.

Ruined the series for me.
I know you are joking but a lot of people have been crying over this.

I really can't understand why. Of all the things that sucked about that scene them out running the dogs is at the bottom of the list.

when Ramsey asked the sister how fast can they run they are standing 10 feet in front of them and hes unlocking the door. next shot you see them running out to the boats and have clearly outrun the dogs but a long margin.
how the frick did they run so fast?
Or why didn't they just kill the dogs with all of their giant weapons..

The real question is why didn't they just hit the dogs with their swords?

Maybe they just said...hey wait...don't let those dogs out. We don't want Theon...we're leaving.

Well they needed to get the hell out of there anyways. It was a stealth mission to get Theon out. They didn't have the time or man power to stay any longer. 50 men were not enough for the entire Dreadfort. I guess they just decided to bolt instead of fighting the dogs.

I get why they left...they had already lost several men and were due to lose more, and the person they came for (Theon) had been Stockholmed into not wanting to be rescued anyway. Thus the "My brother is dead" line.
HOWEVUH (in my best Stephen A. Smith voice), shouldn't she/they have been able to tell that he had been brainwashed by that point, and that he wasn't in his right mind? I mean they had already gotten his penis Fed Exed to them in a box for frick's sake. It's not like Theon was killing them...he was resisting because of the brainwashing torture he had gone through.
I dunno..it just fell flat for me. That's why that storyline needs to go somewhere ASAP, otherwise it's just been a gigantic waste of time and served no real purpose toward the actual plot of the series.

I was gonna make a joke about this, but decided not to.

I never saw the dogs outside their cages, so my take was he never let them out or gave the humans such a head start they would have easily made it to their boat.

What? Why would you be asking this?
So the mountain fights for the Crown and the bi sexual Spaniard fights for Tyrion?
Should be a good fight.

Yeah I'm thinking Ramsey wanted them to get the message back. They could have easily taken that squad out.

The whole resolution of the fight scene just shows how poor of a storyline it currently is. It's not beyond repair but it's bad right now. I can see Theon playing a role in killing his Dad now (Balon was part of the Leech Ceremony and stuff). Who cares about the Ironborn right now tho? They have no power.
Ramsay is a sadistic bastard and completely boring because he's had "invincibility" for the last 3 seasons. At this point, I don't see how he could die. Who's going to challenge him now that both Yara and Daddy Greyjoy DGAF anymore?
Now that Jofftard is gone I can how Martin wants Ramsay to continue to troll us with his evil, but it seems like he's going to be around for the long haul now

they, essentially, control the north

She's been phased out hard - I suppose her and Jon will have some sort of reunion when the Wildlings march.
I have no clue to what her endgame is... at all.

Ramsay's storyline keeps the Ironborn semi-relevant but it's a side story at best.
If Balon dies why should we care? Has he even been on screen this season?
