I think Jon has been pretty good this season--definitely not as 'emo' and has been showing his leadership skills/manning up like he did in ASoS.
I agree, and I am ready for him to start wrecking shite

I'm ready for Edd to fetch a block and for the Stannis nod but that won't be until Season 5.

i hope the show kills thorne instead of slynt. i hate Thorne so much more in the show than Janos Slynt

ASoS prologue pov character doesn't die. It's really a pretty pointless chapter that you don't even have to read
Posted on 4/30/14 at 1:03 pm to Finkle is Einhorn
Chett dies in the prologue because he is one of the wights that attacks Sam an Gilly.
ETA: I wouldn't say it's pointless because it shows the tension that builds to the mutiny at Crasters.
For those that are interested here's a good podcast discussing from a book readers standpoint. I'm on my phone so if the link doesn't work it's called "Fighting in the War Room: A Storm of Spoilers"

I would say the most important Prologue is Varamyr Six Skins's in ADWD.

I have very fast cable internet and the graphics on that linked webpage is among the slowest redraw I have seen in a long time.

As far as the Knight King, why would anyone be upset if they show him in the show before the books?
The Night's King is from a tale that was supposedly thousands of years ago. There has been no indication in the books that he is actually still around.

Sorry about that. I was listening to it on the app and that was the only way I knew to share it.
I don't think that was the Nights King. I think it's just a high ranking Other. I mean there were 13 of them. A king would never stand amongst those that were below him. The description on HBOGo was probably just a snafu.
I still think that Stannis will be the new Night's King. There's too many parallels between the two. The whole Night Fort thing and the northern men saying the gods will make a kingdom of snow for him and such.
There is one parallel it could is The Last Hero because he set out with 12 companions and he was surrounded by Others at one point.

Stannis becoming the Night's King 2.0 definitely makes sense and I think that's where his story is leading to, unless Martin completely kills him off during/after the Battle of Winterfell.

I hate both of them so much, but it has to be Janos. Janos is the one who turned his back on Ned and is a shitty human being. His beheading is one of the most satisfying moments in the series.

I just want to see the look on his face when he thinks he is just going to get a slap on the wrist and Jon tells his men to fetch the blocks.

I've always looked at the Night's King as a human the Other's corrupted in order to lead their armies. I had Stannis pegged as well being that he is all in on the I'm the rightful King and probably won't take it well when he figure out he isn't. With the show revealing a new/still living Night's King, it does kill that theory more than likely, but it's not really a spoiler as we were all just guessing.

Agreed. I wonder if GRRM is closer to finishing Winds than we thought--or HBO is lighting a fire under his arse.

And that's why I say the show will only pass the books if they want it to. And based on tonight it looks like they want to beat GRRM to the finish and I think that's bullshite
I got this crazy idea. How about George RR Martin not sell his unfinished intellectual property unless dumbass is going to write his books in time to keep up with the series? Yelling at HBO for moving ahead with the rough outline given to them is ridiculous. This show is going to fly by Martin's books. The sooner everyone accepts that, the better.
ETA: Anyone who found this book series as a result of an HBO show does not religiously follow the SF/F genre. Calling this the "greatest fantasy series ever written" on any median is a joke. We've seen very little creativity out of the series other than a penchant for detailing a very realistic portrayal of medieval times and war.
I actually find the book series very enjoyable for what it's worth; but, my god, it might be the most overrated book series ever the way people talk about it.

From the Hodor thread:

Wasn't Asha going rescue Theon. What is taking her so long?
Her name in the show is Yara...
Followed by a couple of "you gone get banned" memes.
