You know how long it would take me to watch 8 seasons of Mad Men??
Silicon Valley is hilarious; definitely a good show to watch to lighten the mood after watching babies get turned into Others. The past 2 episodes have been really funny; Erlich and Peter Gregory are becoming a part of my favorite characters on TV.

You know Peter Gregory is dead IRL right?

Finally watched the episode. Loved it. Felt like a Hodor the last 5 minutes, and I must say, it was awesome to not know wtf was going on.
And I have no problem with Brans storyline. Hes barely in the book, so they need him to do something. No problem with the addition. The 1 thing that I didnt like was that Sam told Jon Snow that hes alive and went beyond the wall. Makes Sam seem like an even bigger pussy than he already is. I loved that he didnt tell Jon about Bran in the books. Seemed like he came into his own after that. But, I guess thats just a minor thing. And I do think Coldhands comes into play soon and gets Bran and them out of Crasters quietly, and as soon as they are gone Jon Snow and them get there and kill them all. Locke is just there to kill Bran. So either Jon kills him, or he flees and is pardoned by Lord Bolton.
As usual, Jamie and Tyrion were spot on. Especially Jamie with the Brienne scenes. He did a great job. I literally lol'd when he said "I have another surprise for you", and then it goes to Pod smiling like a dumbass
Sansa and LF scenes were bland, but LF did give a great speech and you really can tell his 1 of the most dangerous men in the realm and wants everything and doesnt care how he gets it. Moondoor episode is gonna be awesome.
Dany is Dany.... Im kinda over her so it doesnt really bother me. I do love how they have given Grey Worm a bigger role and hes awesome. And, to the people saying they thought he would be bigger, remember he was a slave. Doubt he got his 3 meals a day. But, hes been a nice addition.
And now I come to the ending. Just wow. I dont really care if it spoiled us for the WoW. That was awesome. And, I doubt they spoil us with MAJOR things. I seriously doubt GRRM would do that to his faithful book readers for so long. And dealt with the long gaps between books. I dont think hes going to spoil us with huge things. At least, I hope not. Because if he does, and I read the book and its similar, i will not be happy. I just hope he gets on it and finishes the fricking book soon. But, back to the ending. Yea it was awesome. NIghts King or Great Other or just a powerful Other, doesnt really matter. We will see how it plays out. But, it does kinda prove that it will end with the batlle between "ice" and "fire". White walkers and Others and Nights King vs Dragons and Rhollar. The only question is, which side will people be on? Brans going to BloodRaven... so is BloodRaven working with the Others? And would that mean that Bran really is gonna turn into a "bad guy"?
Been a great season so far.

I'm sure it has been mentioned here, but the great other was in all black. I'm wondering if that is their Uncle Benjen Stark. That or Coldhands saved BS at some point and he left the dragon glass for them to find. It would explain how the wolf found it by scent.

Well that makes me lead the think its the Nights King because he was in the Nights Watch before and what not.

GRRM doesn't have any input into the show.
Best case scenario is that the final scene lights a fire under his fat arse and he starts writing with a purpose to not have anything else revealed in the show before the book.

Well considering hes the 1 that knows whats going to happen, he has input. Hes telling the HBO people whats going on and what will happen, and they go off that.
Do you think they came up with that last scene on their own?

This. Plus I think he writes an episode of the show each season - usually a pivotal one. So it's definitely not accurate to say he has NO input into the show. I don't know off the top of my head what the extent of his input is - ie: does he have veto power of some sort? But he definitely has some input.

Just watched the last episode last night... took me awhile to get through this thread.
At first, I was really pissed about Locke being at the Wall and the traitor Night's Watch capturing Bran and co. Now, I don't mind the additions IF:
1.) Coldhands and/or Others + Wights show up and start murdering the traitor Night's Watch
2.) While the traitor Night's Watch are fleeing the scene, Jon and co happen upon them and slaughter them - no survivors or questioning
3.) Jon doesn't know Bran and co were even at Craster's so they escape unnoticed.
4.) Jon kills Locke after Locke tries to assassinate him - I really hope they do not have Locke stab Jon instead of Bowen Marsh and others.
I agree that we might have saw the prologue of WoW. It was really only shocking that they showed it in this season. I do not think Darth Maul is the Night's King. I really think that is a huge stretch especially for non-book readers. I think it's more likely that he is just the leader of the Others establishing that they are more than ruthless killers.

Except that HBO accidentally spoiled that it is.

But then they erased that note so who knows?

Then why does he look different than the rest of the Others? He looks more "human" to me or was a human at some point.

Thought the episode was great. Discussing the episode with my brother, we kind of came about to how do any of the changes affect the end game of the characters? Really doesn't change anything if Jon knows Bran is beyond the Wall. As of yet anyway.
As far as the Knight King, why would anyone be upset if they show him in the show before the books? He looks kind of like I would expect him to and it's not like any spoilers were given from his scene. Good observation from the poster pointing out he was all in black as he is supposed to be a former Night's Watch member.

doesn't affect his endgame but makes it a hell of a lot easier for him to reject Stannis' offer of Winterfell.

Right, he wasn't as grizzled looking. Also, all 13 were in black.
As for the speculation that we just saw TWOW prologue, I highly doubt it. The prologue POV always dies, not to mention that it was a baby. How do you have a baby POV? My money is still on Khal Jhaqo as the Prologue POV.

That was my first thought as well.
Heck, maybe they did it for just that reason. Maybe they were getting too much feedback that John was coming across as wishsy washy or to emo in the show and want him to just be able to shoot Stannis down with the offer.

I wondered that myself. They made a point of showing his outfit and they mentioned Benjen many times in both the series and the books. GRRM does very little without some meaning that comes up later. If so, this and if Bran sides with the Others would make the hypothesis that the first King was a Stark much more plausible. At the very least it would indicate some heavy Stark tie-in.

I think Jon has been pretty good this season--definitely not as 'emo' and has been showing his leadership skills/manning up like he did in ASoS. A lot of fans seem to have issues with Kit's acting; I haven't had issues with his acting--moreso some of the writing. I actually think that Emilia's acting has been more inconsistent than Kit's FWIW.
