I am sure it is stated explicitly in the books but it has been a while, but why is Cersei so intent on having the Mountain live? Future uses I am guessing?
I don't recall anything about Cersei (or any other Lannister) caring about whether or not the Mountain lived in the books. The only thing I can remember is Qyburn asking if he could use the Mountain for one of his experiments since the poison was going to kill him anyway, and Cersei agreed just as long as it would stop the Mountain's screams that were keeping her up at night.

Yeah, too bad they didn't have the current guy from the beginning. He's perfect.
The 2nd season mountain fricking blew. That was terrible casting along with 3rd season daario

the only thing I didn't like about the episode was that Brienne and Pod met Arya and neither one gave her the wolf bread that Hot Pie made

Someone needs to make an edited verison of this where they open it up and its a Dick butt loaf.

That's the direction I see it going.
Never want to make any assumptions seeing how Martin will kill everyone in the book, but Dany has 3 dragons, a fanatically loyal army, and the name targaryen...Dorne is already on her side as is Varys (plotting from within) She's a good bet to make it to the finish line sitting on a throne.
Jon, too much has been invested in his story to kick it to the curb by killing him. He's too important. The white walkers will be defeated (the real reason the wall exists) and whether or not the wall is still standing the nights watch will disband. They no longer serve a purpose.

I could be wrong, but I assumed Varys has been plotting for Aegon's return not Dany's. I will say the fact that it's been hammered home from the beginning of time that Dany needs to return to Westeros, I wouldn't at all be shocked to see her return but not complete her quest to be seated on the throne.
And I could see her marrying Aegon before she would Jon depending on how that all pans out.

I'm assuming he returns as Azor Ahai (in what shape or form I have no idea).

The whole series would be a waste if dany were to die. I would be pissed.
Posted on 6/16/14 at 3:58 pm to DelU249
I wouldn't, if it's done well. It'd actually be pretty bittersweet if she makes it to Westeros but dies before she can take the throne. I always figured the Song of Ice and Fire was Jon's song anyway if his birthright is what most assume. And there's no way every major character makes it to the end of the series.

So in the end is the series going to be another "people of the earth" vs. "evil horde" after winter comes?
Posted on 6/16/14 at 4:09 pm to CheeseburgerEddie
it's quite possible the series ends with a supremely fricked up ending
like littlefinger sitting on the iron throne.

it better have a fricked up ending, cause if it ends up just people vs. whitewalkers then all that talk about this series redefining the genre was bullshite.
Posted on 6/16/14 at 4:14 pm to CheeseburgerEddie
I would say he's already redefined the genre.

To an extent, although I see a lot of similarities between this story and lets say Wheel of Time - which would be sort of at the opposite end in terms of the type of fantasy.
Also he better step the game up for the remaining books back to Book 1 & 2 level IMO.

Dorne's not going to be on her side when they find out Quentyn has been roasted.
And I think all Varys wants from her is her dragons. Dany was disposable before the dragons and her sole purpose was to keep Robert distracted from Aegon. He and Illyrio didn't count on seeing her again. The dragons though changed all that. They want her dragons, but as soon as they get them, they'll stage an "accidential" death for her. I think Tyrion will be politically savy enough to know this, and will not have Dany ally with those two.

I assume they're going To know why he was torched. Anyway, 3 dragons, targaeryn name and the unsullied.
Dany is clearly in the best position of all to take the iron throne. Most of her enemies have killed each other
Tommen, with no one to guide him, is sitting on the throne
The baratheons and boltons are fighting each other.
