How come in this episode, the red witch says that stannis's wife has been sick and locked away but just last week we saw stannis leave the beach bonfire with another lady?
It's been a while?
I'm not sure what they're doing with Stannis's daughter, but the absence of the wife is in the books. Melisandre basically runs his life.

At this point it is stupid to leave characters from the book out of the show with the books not complete. The most insignificant character might play huge parts in the end. Only one man knows
He's producing and writing for the show as well. I think he'll tell them if they need to keep a character in there. JKR did for the HP series, don't see why Martin wouldn't.

Anyone else notice how Dinklage's name was last or near last in the opening credits last year and after his Emmy his name is now the first to appear.
Usually the second or the third most important character in the series is listed as last in the opening credits, to where once you kill off your main character, that's probably the character that's going to be highlighted.

Does he just say "OK, well I guess I'll leave King's Landing now, just leave us alone", or does he take the throne for himself.
I think his plan is to pretty much murder all the Lannisters (excluding perhaps Tyrion since he hasn't really done much against them except show some goodwill towards them) and just telling anyone else who takes the Throne (I guess he's likely counting on Renly) that they'll be no part of the Kingdom anymore.

I think it would be tough to turn down that much power, especially with no guarantee that whoever does take the throne will allow the North to be independent. If he really doesn't want to be king, I'd imagine he'd be best off making some truce with Renly or whoever with the understanding that the North would be left alone after.

Yeah, Renly would be the most likely to go for it. He sees himself as the king who is wanted by all, and he could probably see that Rob would the king that the North really wanted, so he may go for it and form an alliance with each other. Granted, Renly may be pissed about Robb's father not joining him when he should have (and rightfully so since Ned wasn't the brightest in that situation), to where he may be far more reluctant now to do such a thing.

He actually did that with a character in the first season, and they killed him anyway.

Who'd they kill that they shouldn't have?

Apparently the buddy of Khal Drogo that Jorah Mormont kills in the TV series in front of the tent is supposed to play a decent sized role in the 6th book when it comes out.

Some of you need to get over Ros - she is there to keep littlefinger in some scenes, prevent as much "whore du jour" scenes as possible, and could take on some important future roles. If u listened To littlefinger last night he told her some things.
Rember this Show has a frickin budget. No sense casting stannis daughter, his wife (speaking role), new head of gold cloaks(bronn is sufficient) if u don't have to. There will be many more little changes like this in future too big a world for their not to be. Craster sons chang is to add some suspense.
FYI I like how the theon story went last night - His reception had a better feeling to it than in the book - though the sister part is better in book.
Danger of watching thrones with your in laws? You are sitting next to ur mother in law when that dude gets snowballed with another mans cum.

Yeah, I have been recommending my parents watch it (I'll still do it for my dad despite that scene), but my mom would flip her shite in that scene. Thinking about not getting her to watch it anymore. Definitely the most disturbing thing put on screen yet in this show.

I found the map and claimants to the throne on the HBO site. Is there a more extended guide to the characters?
For example I can't remember who the man's name that Ned Stark gestured to--the the one that took Arya out of the crowd when Ned was .... well you know.

His name is yoren. At least it was in the books. I don't think they changed it for the show

Thank you, I couldn't remember his name. For some reason I kept thinking it was Bronn and I knew that wasn't right.

I thought I heard Arya call him "Yorel"
they also changed Asha to something else

I'm pretty sure its Yoren in the show too.
I think they changed Asha because of Osha at Winterfell (the wildling they didn't kill last season, played by Tonks on Harry Potter).

Also, Argus Filtch (with the cat, Mrs. Norris) from HP is Walder Frey (the Twins).

That baby that Jon Snow saw being carried out into the woods...Did it belong to that girl who Sam wants to rescue or was it another girl's baby? The girl Sam wants to rescue didn't even look preggo. Also, Jon's wolf will hopefully tear that man limb from limb and then those poor girls will all be free!
