Yeah I had four at my house.
Same here, plus two other view parties of 4 or more that I was invited to.
I hope we'll get at least three seasons. I pretty much know that once Game of Thrones ends, so probably will my HBO subscription (unless they have another show I really want to watch).

They will.
I'm still pretty pumped about last night's premiere.

Well what the frick? Neither of them have a goal? Just to bust a nut? frick. That's retarded as shite. Goddamn incestual assholes. I'm only halfway through the first book, so my take may be off a little, but one of the important themes so far is the importance of bloodlines and lineage of these royal families. In fact, some thing that was skipped over last night is that for generations, the Targaryens (super blood girl who was married off to the savage and her brother) interbred because they believed that only pure blood should rule Westeros. There is a part in the beginning of the book that talks about the fact that the girl blond would have probably have married her brother if they family had not been ousted from the throne. The Lannisters (Queen, Jaime, and the dwarf) are probably the second most powerful family in Westeros, so the idea of them interbreeding is not unthinkable.
man, you're thinking too much. just watch the show

His post is so funny/ironic, once he reads the books he will be kicking himself.

Why read the book when I can spend an hour each week watching the show?

Reading the books would give you a lot of insight into the show, IMO it would make the show more enjoyable for you.

I've never read the books, nor am I really into medieval fantasy and I haven't ever seen LoTR. That being said I really liked this premiere and appreciate the thread cause at first I had no idea WTF was going on. I might watch it again after reading up. Also, I really don't know much about monarchies etc. But are all these other rulers (Sean Bean) and the people of the other "houses" just rulers below the King and they all report to him but have their own cities or something? Thanks. Looking forward to next week.

Check out the map on the first post. The Seven Kingdoms is a nation comprised of seven formerly independent kingdoms on the continent of Westeros. It is ruled by a king who sits on the Iron Throne in the capital city, King's Landing, which is currently Robert of House Baratheon. The Seven kingdoms all of which now report to the Iron Throne (Robert) are divided thusly:
The North -House Stark
The Vale- House Arryn
The Stormlands - House Baratheon
The Reach - House Tyrell
The Westerlands - House Lannister
The Iron Islands - House Greyjoy
Dorne- House Martell
I will try to put up a location guide up on the first page soon.

I was just going to post that in its own thread. Great news. I hope they give it more than 10 episodes. Its going to need at least 12.
Season 3 is going to need at least 15, although I'll bet they cut a lot of the Onion Knight out.

GRRM talked about the renewal on his site and hinted it will be 10 episodes again and that he will be writing the Battle of Blackwater Marsh episode.

I think they would have to add a couple episodes, hopefully if ratings continue to improve (the UK ratings were phenomenal) perhaps that will motivate them to produce more.

GRRM printed a retraction saying he did not actually know how many episodes season 2 would be but he's hoping for 12.
