Had never watched before . . . just finished the first season. Pretty darn impressive. Will start season two later this weekend I hope.

So, for right now (by the end of season one anyway) only a handful of people really know the truth about Jeffrey, including Ned's young son. It all makes for an interesting and seedy story about the fight for rule. For now, I'm wondering what impact the proof of the supernatural (dragons and the walkers) will have on the more human elements.

1) if born to a family of some means, you'd better start plotting to kill people, cause someone's plotting to kill you ...

2) life's short ... better enjoy it ...

I'm glad this was started, if you don't mind would you want to continue updating with spoiler status on as you progress?

I just started watching about a month ago. I've currently finished season 2 and am taking a break before starting up with 3. It's hard not to click on GOT threads because I'd like to talk about it, but I realize I'm way behind everyone else.

Just watch it all and stay off this board

Assholes will spoil it in ways even if it's not explicit

"Watch out for ____!" Etc etc

Just do yourself a favor and binge watch it and then come here

I watched all 4 seasons over a few weeks...then immediately did it again. Best freaking show ever made.

It's definitely not the Game of Thrones for nothin'. And you know it's serious business when they're killing off Sean Bean that early. That is still a Top 5 shocking moment for me in the series.

And I still miss Ned and the Khal.

They do a pretty good job of weaving those two worlds (fantasy and realistic) throughout. As you've already seen at this point, there's going to be some fairly high fantasy elements. But it doesn't come off as outlandish as it could IMO.

The one piece of advice that I give all new viewers of GoTs is to google Robert's Rebellion. It'll give you the background you probably need to understand the events that lead up to season 1, and a little background on the major houses.

Finally gave in and started watching GoT to see what all the hype is about. I'm seven episodes into season 1 and completely hooked. Can't wait to see Ned Stark kicking arse all over the kingdom.

I think I'd be hesitant to tell anyone who is just past Season 1 to Google anything Game of Thrones. The internet is dark and full of terror.

The History and Lore videos that have been included in the Game of Thrones DVD releases are some good, pretty sterile storytelling IMO. But I'd hold off until you see another season before I'd watch them. I just went through the Catelyn Stark one and it has a little bit of spoilery stuff.

If all you do is google and read up on Robert's Rebellion, you'll be fine. But if you start having a wondering eye, the sites that have info on Robert's Rebellion also have a ton of spoiler stuff. So if a newbie does search for RR, then yeah, they should proceed with caution.

There will be a March 22 repeat of all of last season, maybe more. Great show. The new season starts April 5th. Each season got better for me. The first season was very good, but gets better each year.

Best show that religiously follows the books, although book 4 was boring, the show certainly wasnt
