I’ve seen this before for game of thrones over the years but never for Star Wars or BB, and never to this level of perfection.

My wife just started watching all of the star wars for the first time in release order. I've seen eps 1-6, and we finished episode 7 last night. Episode 7 is much better than episode 1-3, IMO. The acting and writing in 1-3 is so terrible.

Yeah 7 is better than 1 and 2.

Revenge of the sith > 7 IMO

8 ruined the universe Permanently

Here’s a thread hijack

What was the greater disappointment considering the hype/potential.

Star Wars Episode 8 or Game of Thrones ending?

One of the noticeable drawbacks of Ep 7 is that it is THE EXACT SAME MOVIE as eps 4-6. The story is near identical. Maybe that's why it didn't suck as bad as the rest.

Episode 8.

I love GOT, but it is a relative blip. Star Wars has been THE thing since I was a child, and I was completely sold on Episode 8 going in. I was a fan of RJ (still am aside from TLJ) and the trailers looked absolutely phenomenal.

GOT was a huge letdown but it pales in comparison.

Why are seasons 1-4, over half the show, only represented by the tail?

GoT can never be redeemed. RoS was extremely flawed but did a job of taking it back to where the general populace didn’t hate it.

I’ll probably never watch GoT again... and if I do I’ll never watch past season 6 or 7.

TFA was horrible, so I expected TLJ to suck. GoT was almost assured to be at worst okay.

That's just my opinion, I guess, but the free market evidence is that more Star Wars content is being planned and made - lots more, whereas all 5 GoT spinoffs have been shelved.

People shake their heads when I say that D&D did this on purpose for the Disney deal (which they were later screwed out of ) but HBO had an entire EU of content planned. People would have been streaming it for decades. It could have rivaled Star Wars in terms of fan enthusiasm and staying power. Now, NO ONE gives a shite.

That, my friend, is a masterpiece of crap.

HBO should've told D&D to frick off to Star Wars and hire new, competent writers to finish the series.

D&D should have known that Disney would frick them over. After putting out a deliberate pile of shite 8th season, the fans (many of whom cross over from SW to GoT) had ZERO enthusiasm for any future D&D work.

Instead of being able to tout their early GoT successes, the official story became that they couldn't write or produce anything of value if they didn't have someone else's story to adapt. Thus, fans had very little interest in a D&D-helmed SW trilogy.

They got what they deserved. Not very smart after all, as it turned out.

Creator Vince Gilligan was involved the whole way. And we get a piece of art. Lucas sold his art half way and GRRM let 2 dumb strangers finish his masterpiece. We get two crap paintings.

Because the quality was the same throughout those seasons.

as someone who has BB and BCS in his top 5, you could probably have a 5y/o draw the El Camino portion of the horse. so safe and uninspired, Netflix must have just thrown a pile of money at Gilligan

Probably Game of Thrones. I was more invested with the characters overall and was forced to watch them get raped before my eyes.

TLJ was an SJW wet dream with dumb arse script.

That's on GRRM for being a lazy piece of shite and not finishing the series. Love them or hate them, D&D did an excellent job adapting the novels to live action television. When they started running out of material is where they really started to lose their way. That's not on D&D, that's on GRRM.

Where I take issue with D&D is where they got lazy and decided to end the series at season eight when they should have gone to, at least, season 10. They also exacerbated the problem by shortening seasons seven and eight instead of having them go 10 full episodes a piece. This really hurt character development and made the events of the final seasons harder to swallow.

Trying to be overly clever is how you get crap like The Last Jedi. All El Camino needed to be was a fun little book end for Breaking Bad that in no way hurts Breaking Bad’s ending. It absolutely succeeded in that.
