I've watched Ep 3 twice now and something occurs to me. Overall it's a slow burn, but consider this. Both Boyd and Jade were looking for something ... Jade was looking for something to get high that would help him "remember." And lo and behold, he stumbles on some mushrooms. Boyd goes to his wife's grave and beseeches her to help him ... and the zombie hand (hers?) shoots up out of the ground and grabs him. Can it be that Boyd and Jade ... and perhaps others ... maybe Tabitha? ... have on some level the ability to "will" something to happen?
And remember the convo between Ethan and Victor about the Lake of Tears ... Ethan says that he imagined it and then dead-Jim told him it was real and he had to find it. And Tabitha had visions of the red rocks and found them last season.
Thoughts?
I’ve thought the same thing and posted in the past about whether or not Victor can do the same thing. I’ve speculated that his drawings aren’t just of things that happened, but also things that he thinks or dreams that come to fruition in the Town.
So I think there’s definitely something there with what you’re saying. Or I guess a more high-level view of it is that sometimes the Town throws them a bone when they need it, just to frick with them more on the back end. shite like food sort of appearing, same with the animals, electricity despite the wires being connected to nothing, etc. It’s like it all is one big controlled experiment where someone or something (MiY entity?) is controlling everything. IIRC, that was Randall’s theory a season ot so ago. And he also had the theory that someone inside the Town was working with whoever is in charge to affect and control things from the inside. And I guess technically he is now correct with the whole Sophia angle.

MIY is going to reveal himself to Sara. Sara is gonna go to the others for help killing Sophia and everyone is gonna say it's just Sara being crazy again. She will attack Sophia but Sophia will survive and everyone will turn on Sara thus "tearing themselves apart."
Any ideas what Elgin was doing pouring gravel in the bedroom for Fatima? What's that about

Something is definitely going to go down in that house, but I don't think everyone "turning" on Sara will tear the town apart. She's already a pariah.

It will if a few people believe her and factions are formed. There's already people ready to turn on Boyd for how he's handled Sara, (maybe Kenny who is growing closer to Sophia?) If Boyd (who's "the only thing that holds this town together") takes up for Sara again and then people find out hes responsible for Elgins eye... that will not go over well.
Plus Sophia is already working the angle to make people blame Tabitha and Julie for all the bad shite thats happening. Victor knows about the MIY, and will presumably be telling Tabitha and the others hes with. Maybe Sara is able to come up with enough evidence that people like Tabitha and Julie also side with Sara after hearing Victor's concerns
That's a very blameable core faction of Boyd, Tabitha, Julie, and Sara that the town could turn on

Good points, all.
Man, I love this fricking show!

This is where I am as well...I think that the whole coverup of Fatima killing Tillie, Elgin kidnapping Fatima, her giving birth to Smiley, and Boyd/Sara torturing Elgin to save Fatima will definitely come out at some point. And when it does, some shite will go down and the Town will be divided. That is an awfully huge secret that is known by too many people for it not to come out. I also assume MiY knows about it (or some of it) and will be hinting at things to help turn the tide against Boyd.
A recurring theme of last season was the Town breaking Boyd after his "it can't break me/us" speech. So I assume that spills over into this season, especially with Kenny telling Sophia how important Boyd is to the people (as you alluded to in your quote).
I just am interested to see how MiY fits into overall knowledge of this place. As in what all does he actually know supernaturally vs. what is he trying to legitimately learn by infiltrating as Sophia. Because it seems like his position (or whatever) comes with its own level of knowledge and control. But then again, we also see Sophia asking questions like she's trying to figure shite out about the Town and the people (whereas in the past the MiY just seemed to know shite just because, like Tabitha digging the hole in the basement for example).

Crows at the funeral service. Crows at the downed tree in the road. Are they a warning?
Julie thinks the crows were celebrating.
Sophia/MiY makes for an interesting character. It needs to be convincing to the other townspeople but its reaction to the crows was confusion rather than the concerned fear the others showed.
Maybe there is another entity competing with MiY for the townspeople (or just to see who can kill the most or drive them to suicide the most)? If so, the crows could be considered a claiming (ie: the other entity, knowing MiY is there, sent the crows to let it know they were claiming the two deahts).
Without knowing which of Sophia's responses are natural and which are acting brings up lots of possibilities. I like the theory of her getting close to Sara to use her to split the town.

Those are the MiY’s clothes. Victor being scared was the big reveal. Means he knows the MiY.
Victor definitely knows who or what the MiY is but I thought MiY put his clothes back in the suitcase that was buried when he put on Sophia’s clothes. I didn’t think he just left them lying on the ground. I could have missed something though.

I’m curious is MiY wants to live with Sara because it thinks she’s a threat or if it’s because it thinks she can help it because of the wild shite shes pulled before.
I think MiY knows he can blame some shite he’s about to do on Sara because she has a rep for doing crazy shite. Helps him stay hidden longer.

Little weird that almost immediately Fatima and Elgin are in cahoots.
What the hell are they doing with the gravel. That was the part that confused me the most.

Weird ending with Boyd and the zombie hand. No clue where that is headed.
Was that real are in his head? If that was real that opens up all kinds of shite.

I also wonder if he's gonna corner Sara and be like "Why did you start ignoring my messages that I sent to you via cuts on your forearms?" I'm wondering if he was controlling that previously.

Was it gravel? For some reason I thought it was dirt, and my immediate reaction was that she was wanting to grow more spoiled plants to eat. But I don't think that is true, was just my first thought.

At this point I feel like we have to assume it was a vision, like when he sees Father Khatri. But like you said, if it is real then this show could turn sideways and get super weird (which I am here for

Another solid episode.
“Whatever game this is, we are losing. And BiW says we are running out of time and we don’t even know the goddamn rules.”
Sara: “I hope I didn’t wake you” as she walks in and clearly sees Sophia awake on the bed, fully dressed, and reading a letter.
So Sara is hearing the voices again, and this time they were caused by MiY/Sophia. I wonder if he was the one doing it the whole time.
Does nobody ever visit the attic to see the gigantic pile of dirt? Seems like that all rooms would be taken in that place, even the attic.
My initial thought with Fatima was shes growing rotten veggies again to feed on.
YES! We get Victor measuring the trees again to see if they’ve moved. I remember thinking that may end up being significant back in S1 when he brought it up. I really hope that pays off at some point.
Julie needs to make a bookmark. That seems significant. And of course Randall thinks it’s bullshite when nothing in this place makes sense.
Fatima is making a golem. A giant made of clay that protects people.
Bookmark didn’t work. Julie thinks she draws a symbol on paper and leaves it there at the scene and then she can revisit it.
Victor says MiY came in a car like everybody else. They brought him in and make him their friend. He saw MiY at the bottle tree when he found his mom, and he was eating her. Yikes.
Sophia compares Abraham/God to Sara. So that was apparently just a test to see if Sara would do what she was told to do.
Fatima is “connected” to the monster she birthed (Smiley). The clay monster giant thing is her way of fighting back.
So something was at the bottom of the lake that is now floating. Wonder if it’s helpful or hurtful to everyone in the Town.
Preview for next week looks like we get some solid information from both the Town kid ghosts and also from Jade’s shroom trip.

Julie decides to cut her hair so the demons can't grab her by it, but it's still shoulder length.
I think she's on the right track with the bookmarks, but it's going to be something different than she thinks (obviously). Maybe she needs to bring something back from that specific point instead of bringing something in?
Did MiY really come from outside, was that just a ruse to play with his food before eating it or was he deeply corrupted by something there which made him into something different (maybe worse?) than the demon-people?
Is this golem expected to actually do something? Like move? If so, wouldn't it be a bit of a better idea to have it tromping around outside the house?

I think this is correct, but I'm not sure why. Maybe a "turning" of a normal person into something stronger than the night monsters would have left Victor unable to ever trust anyone there again.

Had this exact thought...besides the points made earlier about space being at a premium inside the house. Also, no one is going to notice the water runoff you clearly haven't accounted for, Fatima?

I think the Man in Yellow just comes in towards the end of a cycle and cleans house, and he does it by hiding amongst the people the same way he is doing now as the new girl who just came to town

I think it will take some figuring out. I will be really, REALLY pissed if Ethan's dumbass little twerp books lay out how to do things explicitly though. But admittedly, that's mostly because I just fricking hate that little cunt and don't want him to be more major to the plot.

Not sure on that. We know Sophia didn't come from outside, but everyone else has no idea since the preacher is dead.

We definitely need more information on all of that. I will say that currently I am not a big fan of things heading in that direction. The only thing I was onboard for was Boyd's shrugging and saying something like "hey, if it's real then maybe it can't hurt to have something on our side for a change."
But it just seems like a really weird place to take this. She's....creating a "giant" out of dirt and mud? Uh, okay.
Also, Elgin is a little too forgiving. Dude is just pal-ing around with Fatima and Sara after kidnapping and harming one and being brutally mutilated by the other like two days ago.

I kinda like that angle. Like he's sort of the "final boss" who comes in and has never been defeated, despite Jade and Tabitha trying for decades (or centuries even).
So if that is the case, I suspect the show could possibly end with him finally being defeated and people being able to leave? But it also would beg the question of who or what is actually in charge above MiY; like is he actually in control or does he answer to something higher/more powerful...
I was a little disappointed we didn't get any further clarification on Boyd and the hand coming from the grave/ground. I assume that will come soon, but I really hoped we advanced toward a possible explanation of that.

Pretty well known Jewish fable.
If you're a Sopranos fan, you'll recognize that Tony was called a golem when he tried to intervene in the Hassidic marriage.

They moved the story forward a smidge with the wedding ring. I'm not sure where it's going or if the infinity symbol inside it means anything though.
I was a bit disappointed the 'shrooms didn't kick in this episode, but the "Boyd! Is Kenny in this room right now?" was pretty funny.

I think that's just a device so we can identify what is otherwise a basic gold band.

Boyd's boat? Remind me what happened there. He bought a boat and had a picture of it then it vanished from the picture?
I was confused by the scene with the rings. I assume they're trying to make us think that the same thing that happened to Boyd's wife is now happening to Fatima?
For the questions in this thread about if the MIY was a converted member of the town...I don't think that's what they're getting at. It's the same thing as Sophia where no one knows the truth and just assumed she's new to the town. And when Victor was a child the MIY won and so Victor never found out the truth
