Yeah, I was still thinking how all this shite started over Readhead bitch lying for the enemy and how it got her father's head chopped off.

So Jon hung an underage kid by the neck until dead. The kid is dead. Does it really matter how a known murderer has killed his victims. It would have been more humane and a quicker death to cut their heads off. Jon wanted to make sure they suffered.

Jaime is the only decent person on the show besides Brienne.

I guess the other people are pretty cool too. Just not as cool as Jaime.

Jaime has become the unrivaled star of the GOT series.
Nah. Jaime sucks, doesn't matter, and hasn't really made a meaningful contribution other than knighting Brienne in years.

Jon Snow has become a sniveling naïve idiot.
Kind of agree with this, though.

Some of the people who he saved their lives matter to every episode - Tyrion who he helped escape execution and Brienne who in turn saved Sansa's life.

To be fair, I did say "in years."

Jon never was the brightest but they have really made him a stupid frick lately.

"Arya, Sansa I have a sacred secret to tell you but you MUST promise to keep it in the FAMILY among us brothers and sisters, OKAY!!!"

They agree and are promptly told that he isn't even their half brother. He is just a cousin.

The switcharoo they've pulled with several characters is one of the glaring weaknesses of the last seasons. And clearly emblematic of the relative lack of emphasis the writers place on character development and consistency.

Yeah Jon was never an especially shrewd operator, but he also wasn't a pussy-whipped mope. This version of John couldn't have survived in Mance's camp.

Sansa's suddenly the master strategist and overall sharpest tool in the shed.

Tyrion's gone from being the "smartest guy in the kingdom" and a capable administrator to being basically useless.

I think it's still a decent show, but they clearly didn't give a shite about keeping character consistency.

Oh yeah, and you are correct.

I was just pointing out that his actions have affected the last few years. And this season would be a whole lot worse without him. He damn near had a whole episode about him.

Thinking about it though I think some of his scenes with Bronn last year were memorable.

very well said and good breakdown on a few of the characters. That's probably what caused me to start this thread in the first place.

Jon was by far the most LOVED character maybe of any TV program or movie EVER. I can hardly stand him anymore and his actions this season have not been needed and have possibly made the show worse. The dragon riding scene.

My GF is not watching the show yet so she can binge next week. I was thinking about all of the crap I can't tell her or talk to her about when I started this thread. And I thought that is why I started it. But with the subject covered I think it really started because of what you just pointed out. I now hate what used to be my favorite characters.

I still like Tormund, the Hound, Brienne, Tyrion, Bronn, Pod and a few others but the top of the list favorite characters have gone to shite. Hell before Sunday's episode I was thinking that it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Cersei had of won this whole damn thing. I don't like any of the people in line for the throne any more. At least it would stay the same if Cersei retained it.

ETA: Another thing I noticed is that they let Tormund get shorter. In last week's episode when Brienne got up and left and Tormund started to go after her, Jaime stood up and blocked him and followed after her himself. I thought damn Jaime was fricking HUGE. But it wasn't Jaime. Tormund was much shorter than Brienne and everyone else he was around that show except Jon who isn't very tall either. Thought it was weird that they portrayed him to be a borderline giant and even had him ask others if they knew why he was SO BIG only not to be big anymore in the very next episode.

Don't fret or worry yourself over it. I typed it all out for myself more than I did for you.
