No. But my guess would be she was the first ever, went rogue and Zordon created the others to stop her.

OK. I don't understand why they had to change shite so drastically. I kind of like the idea of Rita being a Ranger initially, but why The Green Ranger? One of the cool aspects of The Green Ranger was that he starts out bad but becomes good.
The only way this will work for me is if they do a story where Rita passes her powers to a teenager. Maybe in a sequel or something. Then that Ranger eventually joins the team. I can see that as a possibility and something that could be cool.

Maybe Rita becomes so powerful she herself can create a ranger, does so and he becomes good. If that's the case I expect her to possibly create another green ranger, he becomes good then turns into the white ranger.

Why do I have the feeling that the evil green ranger is going to be Rita turned good similar to how the villain in Power Rangers in Space became a ranger in the next season.

The power coins were created by Ninjor, ruler of the Temple of Power in the Desert of Despair on the planet Rutabaga 6. There were 6 of them. Zordon and Alpha 4 found the first 5 coins after they found a map leading them there. Sometime later, 10,000 years ago, Rita tricked Rooten Toomen, leader of Rutabaga 6, into a peace treaty. She never showed up and went to find the 6th power coin, which she found inside a Ninjor statue. Guards scare her away and after Rooten Toomen figures her out challenges her to a battle in the desert. She tricks him into destroying the statue and through all the chaos she gets the 6th power coin. She kept the coin for a while until she found a ranger worthy of the coin. At present day (1993-ish) Finster convinces her to attack the rangers with a monster- Korruptor. As Korruptor goes after the rangers, Tommy (pre-"Green with Evil") goes after him. After putting up a good fight, Rita decides Tommy is the chosen one... and the rest is history.

I'm pretty excited for this. I was right on the cusp of being too old for Power Rangers when it was on, but I've always enjoyed the robot genre. Big Voltron fan too.
Pacific Rim gave me hope that Giant Robot Fighting movies can be made and not suck. If they can pull this off, perhaps we'll get a Voltron movie.
Anyone remember the old Force Five cartoons that used to come on (showtime?) back in the 80s? Spaceketeers, Grandizer, Starvengers, Danguard Ace, and Gaiking?
