It’s fricking boooooooorinnng is that a big enough of a reason to not like the movie? Where is this energy for every other thread where people talk about movies they don’t like. The fact Interstellar is getting hoisted up like I’m shitting all over The Godfather or Citizen Kane fricking proves my point.

Fair enough. I should have said “major” Oscars.

What's boring about it? You want more of an Armageddon or Star Trek type of feel?

It's a fun cinematic experience. The 2 things which bothered me the most were the non specific blight which was destroying the crops, and how there wasn't any solution of solving the issue. What bilgesnipe.
And that 'we' in the future constructed the bookcase tesseract space in Gargantua, and then somehow got Cooper out of it, placed him just within reach of the space station, and it all worked out like a damn fairy tale. That always seemed rushed and forced to me.
Not saying it didn't work for me entirely. but yeah.. a few flaws in a good movie.

They suddenly "loved it" once prevailing pop culture opinions shifted.

Murph: Nobody believed me, but I knew you’d come back.
Cooper: How?
Murph: Because my dad promised me.
Cooper: I’m here now, Murph. I’m here.
Murph: No. No parent should have to watch their child die.
That didn’t gut punch you?

He knew his daughter was Murphy, Murph, because they told him the station was named for HER, not him.
Cooper Station.
Must have been an off day for Mathew.

I felt similar upon first watch but 2nd & 3rd I was digging it. A few in this thread have stated they have no desire to rewatch it. I didn't either, none, but 10 years later, due to my sons wanting to watch it, I've watched it 3 times since.
I missed a bit the first time & most who have rewatched it claim so too. To me it's a movie you definitely have to be in the right head space.

I thought it was awesome when seeing it in the theater first time. After a couple of rewatches it's not one I'll probably ever go back to.

This is it. I watched edge of tomorrow recently and have seen it a few times. Like the movie, not the best ever, but is good sci fi film. It's also an hour less runtime than that slog.

I thought it was really well done except for the time travel glitch.
Future people gave Cooper the ability to inform past Murphy how to use science to escape the dying earth but future people wouldn’t exist unless that was given..so earth would die and no future people would be around to give the info to Cooper.
Should have been aliens.
And I get the “they exist in all timelines at once” thing but no…they wouldn’t even exist to evolve to that if the earth died.
