don't remember it being a big revelation that she made it to a planet. It was just that Coop was going to go find her at the planet she planned to go to

They showed her setting up camp on Edmund’s planet

Right, but I don't remember that being a huge reveal. It was just showing where she was when Coop decided to go get her.

I think you insist on being a major nerd and geek for typing out your analysis of a movie like anyone gives a crap.

The not rewatchable thing is odd to me. Not saying it's stupid, it's just preference, but I find all of Nolan's movies highly rewatchable.

To me, the winning formula is:

- Is it well made (Nolan's movies always qualify)
- Is it entertaining enough
- Is there novelty to it?

So it soars through my requirements.

Not a top 10 Nolan movie

He’s only directed like 12 films, so bottom 2?

Regardless if you like the story line or not the movie is rewatchable just for the incredible cinematography and score.

Everyone is saying this movie is not rewatchable and I think this is the Nolan movie I have seen the most. Absolutely love it

I second that. Amazing film with so many great action-packed, tense, and even emotional moments.

Interstellar is a good movie that’s not at all rewatchable. Cast Away I will rewatch anytime anyplace and at any point

I agree with this. I watch Interstellar probably once every 3 years. Cast Away is an anytime for as long as i have to watch movie. A Few Good Men is the other. In a given year i may end up watching either movie 3 times (and none of it is start to finish)

The OP basically thinks "overrated" means "some people like this movie more than me"

First of all using how many Oscar’s a movie got nominated for as a metric of anything in 2026 is laughable. As I said in my original post, people who love this movie act like it’s a life changing movie, one of the all time greats, and if you don’t think so then obviously you are an idiot and don’t get the movie. The replies to this tame criticism of the movie is proof of exactly what I’m saying.

Strawman like you read about.

You said "people like it more than me" means its overrated. People then said "i do in fact like it more than you and disagree that it means the movie is overrated"

Youve created some bizarre scenario in your head here.

No response in this thread that ive read is any more or less tame in defense of the movie than your initial criticism. Chill out brother

It had its moments, but it wasn't the masterpiece some make it out to be.

I think most of the responses have been very civil disagreement

For me, personally, in an era dominated by comic franchises and rehashed IPs, it was a breath of fresh air. Just look at the 2014 top grossing list, and it's easy to see why people who found that stuff tiresome were very enthusiastic about something very different.

You are proving my point btw. My critique was tame and I said the discourse around the movie over the last 12 years overrated the movie in my opinion. Again, my opinion is just as valid as yours. I’m happy to agree to disagree. But your reaction is essentially “YOU MADE IT UP IN YOUR HEAD THAT EVERYONE SAID THE MOVIE IS GREAT”

Bro… that is insane behavior. It’s just an okay movie. Don’t take it personally. frick.

And yes, it’s a common joke/meme online that Interstellar is the “film bro’s favorite movie” so if anything I’m not saying anything that has t been said a million times on Reddit and Letterboxd.

Again it’s an okay movie. But I’d have it ranked at the bottom half of Nolan’s filmography. I think the overtly passionate and aggressive responses telling me I’m wrong kinda prove my point. If I were to come on here and say it’s the biggest piece of shite, then I’d be rage baiting and would expect the shite being thrown back my way. But say an overly praised movie is overrated and all hell breaks loose, well…I rest my case

One of the best theater experiences ever and I rewatch it probably once a year.

Question - did you watch it in a proper environment? It's a great movie, but the intensity, score, scientific dialogue, and beauty really come out in a good setup with big/clear TV and sound system. It's still a good movie without it, but it's one of those that you can really get immersed in and take it to another level. The score is fantastic.

For example, I wouldn't want to watch this on a plane
