Then I guess Eyes Wide Shut is a Christmas movie too, huh? Trading Places? It's just a dumb meme, dude.

^This. The fact there is even a question to whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas Movie proves that it is fact not one. And as I’ve said twice now, this wasn’t even a question until a few years ago when people thought it was cute to suggest it.

Can’t refute what I’ve said so accuse me of being “defensive”.

It's a movie set during Christmas. It's not a "Christmas movie"

It's not cool to say that anymore. It doesn't come close to being as good as national lampoons Christmas Vacation

Well this isn't true. I'm 1 year younger than you. Our family started watching Die Hard every Christmas Eve around 2002. It's a Christmas movie in the same vein as Gremlins and Home Alone. The difference being you can watch these movies year round. MTV classics channel last night had a show from 1999 listing the best Christmas movies. Die Hard was # 7.

You're the one taking it seriously and melting over it.

I mean why can't it be a Xmas movie? It was snowing and they played Xmas music on the soundtrack not to mention the movie is taking place where a Xmas party was going on when the building was taken hostage.

Altho it's release wasnt during Xmas and not family Xmas movie, may have excellent been the 1st action/thriller Xmas movie.

Someone doesn't remember the original theatrical trailer then.

Christmas mentioned/referenced twice in the first twelve seconds.

The best Christmas movie is Black Christmas (1974).

I only commented because some people were saying it released in the summer blah blah. Doesn't mean it cant be a Xmas movie.

Did I say that? No

No but you made a point to say it was released in the summer.

All I am saying is that no one considered it a Christmas movie until a few years ago when it became the edgy thing to do on the internet. And if you’re like me and were alive and old enough to remember the 80s or even the 90s, you already know this. Stop pretending like it’s been considered a Christmas movie all along. Because we both no it hasn’t.

Change your tampon. Just because it wasn’t considered one then doesn’t mean people can’t consider it one now.

Times and opinions change, why can’t you just let people have their fun?

I don’t care one way or another but I do enjoy pointing out that virtually everyone who argues it isn’t a Christmas movie will all agree that Home Alone is.

It doesn’t have to be released as a Christmas movie to be a Christmas movie. The plot takes place during Christmas so that’s why it has become a Christmas movie for some.

No one is forcing you to watch it or consider it one.

It's a movie that takes place during Christmas and that is it. There isn't a message and that is what makes it not a Christmas movie for me. That being said, this movie is a god damn classic
