It was okay. I did nickname OMLandshark “Coco” due to his huge love of the film.

Agreed. It was way up the Pixar pecking order for me probably top 3. It had more heart than any movie I’ve seen in quite awhile. I also choked up pretty good when they showed little Coco signing with her dad as she reminded me of a cartoon version of my little girl

Not sure how anybody can say it was a SJW like movie. Hell if anything I feel like it really drove home a lot of traditional family values.

Top 5 as well. Somewhat 'predictable' but no care. Beautiful story

Watched it again w the wife tonight. She was crying at the end, of course. Had something in my eye when Miguel was playing the guitar for his great-grandmother.

Good, good movie.

I read that they put motion capture balls on the guitar players' hands for all the songs, so everything you see the characters play are the actual notes and chords. I appreciate that level of attention to detail.

Aside from some mildly similar art direction due to the the Day of the Dead setting and both protagonists playing music the two stories are very different.

I didn’t like it. My 3 and 4 yr olds were bored and didn’t make it to the end. Was rather drab and humorless compared to Moana, Nemo, Frozen or some of the other animated movies my kids like.

I play guitar and was watching the fingering when they played guitar. Right on the money, great attention to detail.

It's been a while since I watched it, but I honestly felt kind of "meh" about it for the first half and then the second half really drove it home. It's a great film.

Agree with this.

It was visually beautiful from the start but I actually found the family unbearable in that first half. The grandmother was a total count. Like GTF over it and let the talented kid thrive.

But once he meets Miguel and they go to borrow Cheech’s guitar I was hooked because I realized the stakes. It wasn’t really about Miguel possibly getting stuck in The Land of the Dead, it was about Hector being forgotten in the Land of the Living. That was an awesome scene.

The twist was great and man the ending and Remember Me really kicks the air out of you.

I will say I agree that I wish there had been more music to be honest. The one big performance with Miguel and Hector was fantastic though.

Dante FTW!!!

Me neither. Of course, Pixar has brought out the onions for me when an old man lost his wife (obviously), a robot sacrificed himself for his robot love and a space ship full of humans, and a group of Toys faced impending incineration like only true bffs could, so Coco might just be par for the course for me.

But Coco is just an idea exceptional film from a studio that has set a high bar, and it has a special place for me since my little guy could only say a few discernible words by “Caca” was one of them, and it’s a movie that didn’t grow old for as many time as we watched it. And it’s been a few months and a lot more words, but we had to put it on just the other night.

Watched it as the new parent of a little girl, cried for probably the last 30 minutes - any time Hector mentioned wanting to see Coco after missing her entire life.

Doubly painful since we've lost family members to Alzheimer's and know what it's like to see someone forget you right in front of your eyes.

Loved it. We were at DisneyWorld two weeks before it’s release so it was everywhere. They had a CoCo concert in the Mexico part of Epcot that was great

We even have the soundtrack, although i got “Un Poco Loco” stuck in my damn head for a month.
