She's usually good, aside from stories like Dark Phoenix.

Also, great avatar

"Ladies and gentlemen of NASA, this is Charles Xavier. Help is on the way."

I know it's cool to hate on this movie, but that gave me chills.

I don’t like that some cosmic radiation or some shite brings out the Phoenix. I hope it’s more complex than that.

So the original fate after Dark Phoenix was for her to be lobotomized. Editorial nixxed it because her crimes were so much she had to die.

So Jean Grey got to prototype the Clone Saga for Spider-Man by being cloned by both the Phoenix Force and Mr Sinister. Cyclops constantly hopping on both.

Newer writers can't resist Phoenix going Dark and so a revolving door of death and rebirth was established.

It's been a long time since I have read this, but if memory serves me correctly:

She died and was resurrected by her powers I believe? It may have been a cosmic force, but I can't quite remember. Anyway she was corrupted by this power/force, and she returned wrecking shite. The point was that she was not willfully evil, but rather had no control over her powers which in turn were controlling her.

Someone will be in here to correct me, because it definitely is required.

I'd settle for a movie finally getting Cyclops right. They made him a weak pussy in every movie so far.

They've given so many explanations.

The original? (It's been so long) is The Phoenix Force amplifies life so much she loses emotional control. And the force and her powers ate a couple planets.

Then Madeline Pryor (Jean Grey clone) appeared courtesy of Mr Sinister.

Then Jean came back because she was underwater in a psychic cocoon the whole saga and the PF made a clone...

Basically it comes down the Phoenix Force loves her as a host until some version of Jean spits out Rachel Summers and then it's pretty tame under her so it gets bored and abandons her from time to time.

Eta: and yeah the Phoenix Force is a Cosmic Power like Galactus. They have actual uses in the greater marvel universe.

You're not wrong. Though I did love Grant Morrison's Phoenix story arc in New X Men

I have seen all the Fox Xmen movies (for good and for bad) and almost feel an obligation to see them close it out.

And the trailer doesn't look terrible, but it doesn't look great either.

Dark Phoenix and House of M are my two favorite arcs. Just not pumped about Dark Phoenix because not really a fan of the actress in that type of role.

Really dislike how the XMen are rebooted. Could have been handled better.

I like the cast in these movies but I’m not really interested in the story.

This may or may not be good but gotta love how Singer left the Fox-Men with one last blatant continuity error since he was making it seem like the Phoenix force was already inside her in Apocalypse.

Still don't like comics much but started playing City of Heroes MMO in 2004. That made me look into comics and let me understand what makes them great.

One of my first reads was into learning about the Phoenix Force with the original Dark Phoenix arc in preparation for the 2005-2006 Dark Phoenix. One of my better memories as a kid. Reading the new arc and going online within the CoH/V community to discuss.

Edt: It has just enough weird to hold your interest. Secret Invasion and House of M did the same for me.

So she unleashed the power of the Phoenix on Apocalypse in the last movie, but now needs some space radiation to make it come out?

What the frick?

Ok yeah I do remember it being a cosmic force now. I thought it was, but part of me remembered it being her power overtaking her. Comics get so lost in the weeds with story arcs over the years that continuity gets trashed and everything gets muddied.

I remember liking the original story when it happened. I need to dig up my old books and reread them
