Filming Locations

What are some filming locations you have been to and some that you would like to see one day?
Been to:
1. Ghostbusters headquarters in NYC.
2. Rocky step at the Philly Mus. of Art.
3. Mick's Gym.
4. The area where Rocky trained in "Siberia" in Rocky IV. It's Mormon Row at Grand Teton NP.
5. The Creed-Drago fight location. Jubilee Theater at Bally's (MGM Grand in 1985) in Las Vegas.
6. Jail from the opening escape scene in The Goonies.
7. Cannon Beach from The Goonies.
8. Daniel Larusso's apartment complex.
9. Near Monument Valley where Forrest Gump stopped running.
10. Dead Horse Point where Thelma & Louis drove off the cliff.
11. Where Buford T. Justice made his appearance on the side of the road and kicked the guy in the arse.
12. Devils Tower from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
13. Going to the Sun Road from the opening scene of The Shining.
14. Piz Gloria from On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
15. Double Arch from the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Want to see:
1. I want to go to Martha's Vineyard and see some of the Jaws locations - plus the infamous Dike Bridge (even though it's not the original) from Ted Kennedy's car wreck at Chappaquiddick.
2. I want to see Petra because it's Petra, but it's also the filming location of the end scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
3. I would like to see the Exorcist Steps. If I had thought about it during previous D.C. trips when I had a rental car I would have made a stop. Maybe I will remember next time.
4. The Amityville Horror house. Probably won't see this because it's out of the way of anywhere I might go (tucked away in the middle of Long Island), but it would be cool to see even though the eerie quarter-moon windows are gone.
5. Ohio State Reformatory from Shawshank.

In high school, I built some of the sets for Interview with a Vampire. That's all I got.
eta: I went to a filming of Will and Grace, which was surprisingly entertaining. Also went on the Price is Right, but didn't get called to COME ON DOWN!!

Well haven't been to it so to speak but driven past it as most people have if you've driven cross country or gone to Yellowstone.
It was the first National Monument and Yellowstone was the first National Park.
Its crazy when you drive by it because you don't really think of its natural beauty or geological significance, just hey...Close Encounters. That movie really appropriated it.
There have to be other movies that have taken National monuments and landmarks where you can't see them without thinking of the movie but Devils Tower is sure up there.

I've seen some of the Walking Dead filming locations, specifically Terminus. Some things that were filmed in New York I've checked out. The obvious local stuff.

That I can think of off the top of my head:
Ghostbusters building, both their HQ and the apartment building
Bench in Savannah from Forrest Gump and cemetary from Garden of Good and Evil.
Amusement park in Lost Boys in Santa Cruz, CA.
The old truckstop and fireworks place in Starman near South Pittsburg, TN.
Been by those stairs in the Bronx from Joker.
Central Park meadow from Fisher King, Wall Street, and probably many more.
Central Park Tavern on the Green from Ghostbusters, Wall Street, and probably more.
Ran up the steps in Philly that Rocky ran up.

We rented out the Boars Nest (from the Dukes of Hazzard) for a party once. It was no longer an operational bar but you could rent it out. IIRC, they shot on location there and elsewhere in Georgia during the first season and then used stock shots and studios for the rest of the series when they relocated production to CA.

Watched several live scenes being filmed at LSU from Dukes of Hazzard and that terrible movie Hillary Swank was in.
Boston area where the Departed filmed some scenes
Martha's Vineyard where they filmed Jaws
Seaside Florida where they filmed that Jim Carey movie

This is one of my favorite things to do when traveling and have time.
McAllisters home (alone) in Northern Chicago
All of the places in Astoria, Oregon for the goonies and kindergarten cop
The Ghostbusters locations in New York
The financial district in London where tons of movies film (bond, doctor strange, wonderwoman)
The pub in London where the kingsmen filmed
The nightclub in Miami from The Birdcage.
Dexter's apartment in Miami
The plantation from Interview with a Vampire.
The Selma Bridge
A bunch of the breaking bad locations in new Mexico.
I'm sure a ton more low key spots.. just going blank right now

A surprising amount of Die Hard With A Vengeance was actually filmed in the Charleston, SC area. The scene where they jump from the bridge is the old Cooper River bridge in Charleston.

From 7th-9th grade, I played on all of those high school fields in The Best that Never Was 30 for 30. Lived in Kosciusko, MS for seven years. Kosy was in the same district with Philadelphia, MS back then. Played at Philedelphia, Eupora, Starkville, Ackerman, and Louisville. Don't remember who else was in the district from 1974.

I went to Seaside before Truman show and had deja vu the whole movie because we got ice cream from the store some scenes were shot and the houses.
Saw the Forest Gump bench as well.
Rode Cumbres/Toltec train used in many westerns in New Mexico and another train in Herber City, Utah that was used in A River Runs Through It.
