Drive. Director stayed with too many shots just a bit too long.

And it's not even close.

Runner up is Master and Commander. Superbly acted and directed. Just wish the script were a bit better. Not that it was bad, but going from the solid script that it had to even just a good one would have made it incredible.

Legends of the Fall (was off quite a large bit)

But given the actors and story you felt it could have been so much better...maybe great, who knows?

I thought the Hurt Locker falls into that category. There was a single scene that really felt like it worked (back home stateside in the grocery store) but mostly it was just a little less than completely effective. There was a lot of careful thought and execution there, it just barely missed.

First two that came to mind.

Insidious in the horror genre. Still really good, could have been a GOAT.

Not sure how it could've been better TBH.

Somehow, I had never heard of this one. Will have to watch.

Super 8 was the equivalent of me banging some hot OT 10 blonde and right as I'm about to blow my load, she gets up and runs out the room. Then some big prison black guy comes in. That's Super 8.

The Road to Perdition. Love it, think it's great myself, but I'm not sure if it's even in Hanks top 3.
